I would think a quick call to Verizon would net you better answers than here. But that is just my $.02.

The last time we went to Canada was 3 years ago and yes there was an extra charge to use Verison in Canada. We opted for phone cards.

Our Verizon phones have the North American plan, so they work over the border. But our Verizon cellular modem doesn't work in Canada. I didn't try to see if I could get roaming. I'm the one still fighting the $3500.00 bill from T-Mobile in 2005 for 6 weeks of 40K dial-up coverage in Canada.

I have America's Choice family plan, I checked w/verizon; and there are roaming charges- $.69 per minute. There is a plan that includes Canada, I will temporarily switch over to that plan while I am traveling through Canada on the way to Alaska. I asked about my air card; they said that there is a charge based on the amount of data, that's if and when there is a signal. Go online and you will see the phone plan that includes Canada. Safe travels, Kathy

Since no one on this forum knows your calling plan and your relationship with your celluar carrier, you would be better served asking your carrier. Any answer you get here is just speculation.

Surprisingly, people on the forum probably know more than most of the company CSRs. The answers on here can come from people that have experienced the situation. A lot of CSRs wont take the time to ask within their system for the answers. This is especially true of Data Plans.

When I contact my provider (Sprint) with questions like yours, I always do so online so I get a written reply back. That is the best way to protect yourself from surprise charges or to get those charges reversed if necessary.
