The beauty of my setup is I can go ahead and change it over to the top venting and without any problem as all I need to do to move the fan as it is not mounted anywhere that can't be changed.
I will try that next trip out. We just got back from 4 days at Flaming Gorge and the fridge worked like a charm. Kept our popsickles frozen all weekend long!!

I'm about to install a 12V fan.
a white plastic sheath marked 120V
one gray plastic sheath marked 12V. I cut a slit on the one marked 12V and inside are two brown wires (not labeled). Is this where I splice into?
Thanks!

12 volt fan needs 12 volts to work so use the 12 volt wires.
hook the wires to the "brown" wires to see which way the fan runs if it "blows" then you have it hooked correctly.
If fan runs backwards reverse the wires.
Hook one wire to the fan wire with a splice or solder joint cover with tape.
add an inline fuse radio shack and a toggle switch to the other wire place toggle switch inside of trailer if possible.
Or get real fancy and add a thermostat toggle switch and fuse.
feel free to PM me if I can help.

The description on those sites make it sound like it should go in the refrigerator. Does it really matter if it goes on the inside or the outside?

Rob, Those fans need to be on the outside to cool the fins and thus improve on the efficency of the fridge. Here is a fan that you could put inside the fridge.

Nope they are external fans. Here's a link to the inside the fridge battery operated fan:

So the intent is to have a fan blowing across the exterior fins?

Am I to assume that even hot moving air is better than stagnant(sp) non moving air?
