Actually correct mount according to both Norcold and Dometic is to mount the fan on the upper vent panel to exhaust warm/hot air out. Thsi will draw cooler air in the lower panel as well as preventing a hot spot forming about the upper vent.

Like mike says if the fan is mounted above to draw air out then the fan has less chance of blowing the flame out when using propane.
I installed both 120 volt and 12 volt fans on my old trailer.
Why? because I had a 120 fan and installed it first and added the 12 volt later
today, I would only add a 12 volt.

Mike,
When you mean the upper vent panel, it's the louvered one that's removable correct?
So I can just permanently attach even a computer fan to that upper panel so that its blowing out all of the time right?
BTW, I have an old 96 Coleman Bayport with a Norcold frige.

Yup there are usually two vents, the higher one is the prefered location for an fan.

See my earlier post for a picture of the location that the the factory placed the cooling fan. You can buy a genuine Dometic cooling fan kit with thermo-couple. It is called a Dometic power ventilator assembly (pn. 3108705.751).

It was the trailer manufacturer that put the fan near the bottom, not the fridge maker. Again both Dometic and Norcold recommend installing a fan exhausting outward from the upper vent.
As a note about 1/2 the fridges we have worked on over the years were installed incorrectly by the trailer builders.
Missing or incorrect baffling is the major mistake, followed by incorrect vent opening placement, and bringing up the rear missing or damaged insulation.

You are correct, Mike. My fan is placed so it exhausts out of the top vent of my Aliner. The manual that came with the Dometic fan kit also describes the set-up exactly as you suggest.
