So I had another blowout. But this Carlisle did some damage to the trailer. I am getting pretty tired of this exploding tire crap.
Does anyone make a non-chinese tire anymore? I am looking for a 175/80 R13 if anyone has a suggestion.

Respect,
Brent

I purchased Kelly tires for my fifth wheel. 10,000 miles and no problems yet. They are made in Canada.

You could try Maxxis tires. I have heard nothing but good from folks that use them.

The Cooper web site shows no listing for that particular size. I run a Cooper brand tire on my Jeeps & like them.
What I have found is that many American tire makers sell a chinese made trailer tire. Apparently it is not profitable enough for them to make them here.

Read this story...

Danger warning on cheap Chinese tires

Nearly a half million tires manufactured in China may be rolling time bombs on light trucks and some RV recreational vehicles. A lawsuit filed in June blames cheap Chinese tires for a fatal Pennsylvania traffic accident. The suit says tread separation caused a cargo van carrying four passengers to crash, killing two passengers and injuring the other two.

In June, Foreign Tire Sales appealed to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for aid in recalling an estimated 450,000 light truck tires sold under the names Westlake, Telluride, Compass and YKS after the company allegedly learned that the manufacturer, the Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company, had left a critical component out of the tire.

FTS said an unknown number of the tires it sold were made without a safety feature called a gum strip which helps bind the belts of a tire to each other, the company said in a filing to the NHTSA. Some of the tires had a gum strip about half the 0.6 millimeter width that FTS expected, it said.

Foreign Tire Sales said the tires could suffer tread separation, a problem that led to the nation's largest tire recall in 2000 when more than 14 million Firestone tires were recalled for a similar problem.

But the number of defective tires could be much higher because Hangzhou has refused to specifically identify by Tire Identification Number.

For what it is worth, my Jayco came from the factory with Maxxis tires. I've been VERY impressed with them.

Goodyear Wranglers are made in the good ole U.S.of A. Last set on my old 5'vr went 4 years--my new 5'vr came with Triangle tires--yup,made in China--gave them to Salvation Army and put on Goodyear Wranglers. Here is a website you might like to check out--Good Luck, Lars

They make a trailer wrangler model? I have only seen them for light duty trucks/SUV's.

You are right--they are truck tires-not trailer--but, they sure do the job for trailers---there has been many discussions on the pro's and con's of truck tires on trailers--for me--I go with the truck tires--my 1st Arctic Fox from the factory had Wranglers--rated E, M + S, 4 seasons tires on it--they lasted 4 years and about 20,000 miles----Lars
