Heck, my replacement tires are marked "Beijing" right on the sidewall. Local tire dealer installed them. Purchase was a quasi-emergency when I noted all the sidewalls on my 3-year old Greenballs were cracking midway between the rim and tread in a concentric pattern around the entire tire. This may have been cosmetic, but with a 600+ mile trip thru the PA mountains I took what they could get.
These are BCT (Beijing Capital Tire) JK42 (brand). Never heard of 'em!

I am getting two new Titans tomorrow, supposedly made in the USA. I also found one of my Carlisle's has cracks in the side wall like you described, and the other will replace my shredded one.
Weren't GreenBalls made in Taiwan?

I just got done shopping for tires and let me tell you, it's frustrating in the fact that the tire size I was looking for, 205/ 75/14, are mostly made in China. I ended up with the Maxxis tires and will have them installed in July. I wouldn't have Chinese made tires!
The Coopers are out of stock and aren't scheduled for production until end of July which means beginning of Sept before I could buy them and have them installed. We leave August 24, for a week out and I didn't want to take a chance on a blowout going across the desert
Just got back from a weekend trip. Only went 200 miles round trip, but the trailer only made it about 110 miles before I had to leave it in a parking lot (with permission from the store manager of course). Did I mention that on the way there I had a tire fail, so my spare is has been used. All I can say is this sucks! I called AAA and asked if they could flatbed my trailer home. They said, yes they could. They asked things like type of trailer, how high it was, length, etc. AAA tells me to stand by and they would send out a company called Pullins Towing right in Weedsport, NY where I am. No problem... I sit and wait. While I wait, a summer storm rolls through with sheets of rain coming down. About 30 minutes pass and I see an 18 wheeler wrecker pull in. I'm thinking there must be some miscommunication from AAA to the tow company. I get out in the rain and the driver rolls his window down and says he was told he was there for a tire change service & that their flatbed was out of town. I explain that I have nothing to change it with. He tells me they can sell me a new tire and install it for about $170, and that the shop was across the intersection. If it wasn't raining like it was, I could of seen it had I known where to look. So I proceed over to see what they have to offer, even if it was to pay a night of storage in there lot. I get there and call AAA to let them know what was going on. They re-checked the transcript and assured me that they let them know it had to be towed, and they accepted the job. They really wanted to sell me a tire and install it for 2 hours of labor just like the driver told me. When my wife hangs up with AAA to be sure it wasn't logged against us as a used incident, she tells me that the AAA operator said I was to go into the building where the owner was, that he wanted to talk to me to see if they could help out. So I head over to where he was hanging up from talking to AAA. He asks if he could help me like he didn't know why I was there. I tell him the whole wrong truck sent story. So he tells me he could sell me a tire. I tell him the size and he rudely tells me that he doesn't have any of those. He then proceeds to stick his head under a truck hood in his garage without another word. The rudest guy ever. I guess since he knew he could not sell me an over priced tire that he didn't need to talk to me anymore or even say sorry I can't help you or goodbye. He ignored my request to park over night (when AAA asked him, they said only if I bought the tire from them & they install it). If I was to of done that, I wouldn't of needed to leave it behind now would I. Obviously some real brains working there. I returned to the original parking lot I started from and called AAA again to find me another tow company. The operator said he needed to ask about what to do so he would call back. That was 3 hours ago... still no call.
I will be getting another Titan for my spare and driving back the 70 or so mile to my HTT so I can bring it home.
What a day.

You better look again because Maxxis is a Taiwanese company. They are formerly known as Cheng Shin Rubber Co. Take a look here for more info:

I checked the DOT code on my Titan tires... they are made in China too! The worst part is the company web site says they are made in the USA, the tire itself has an american flag molded right into it! Seems there is some sort of advertising rules being broken.
