We've been fulltiming for 6 yrs now, give or take a month or two.
Only thing I miss is my large garden - but I have a very nice container garden that gives us healthy tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and squash so I can get my fix.
Don't miss anything really about a s/b
No plans to return to one.
Probably just stay in our fiver til we skid into the grave!

How long have you full timed?
Do you ever regret the decision to full time?
What, if anything, do you miss about an S/B home?
Would you return to an S/B home and just part time RV?
Do you plan on giving up the lifestyle at some point?

- going on four years
- No
- Don't miss the taxes, hard work, utility bills! .
- Talk about it, but probably would go to a Senior MH Park
- Only if health forces us to ..

Thought about it, and actually found 4 things I miss:

1) Laundry room.
2) Very high-speed DSL
3) Car
4) Dance studio built into the house.

The first three, I already have or can get very decent workarounds for. No biggie. The last one? Boy, I sure do miss my studio a lot sometimes! Not enough to stop full-timing apparently, but quite a lot.

Why are you asking?

I'd venture that your parents sample is probably skewed since they weren't fulltimers and wouldn't necessarily spend time the way fulltimers spend time.

My parents did not full time, but took 3-4 month trips along the way.

I ask because I dreaded coming home after our last 2 month trip. lol

Ah, that often tell-tale sign, dreading having to return to the rat race. If you find the urge to turn the other direction when leaving that last campground, you may be a candidate for fulltiming. I think that for some of those who burn out after 3 years it is a case of never getting out of vacation mode and they become tired of constant movement, never taking the time to really enjoy an area that they are in for an extended time. We've entered our third year and find we are enjoying it more because we are going slower. 2 weeks works well for us in an area and we are planning on doing a couple more monthly stays this coming year.

We just started our full timing in May, we're seasonal and have a house for sale in Arkansas (we're sitting stationary in Texas, waiting.) I've been thinking of our options. We don't want to live in a S/B for quite a while but due to health reasons, will probably end up there eventually, but when's eventually? We love everything about our 5'er and need nothing else. But here's my problem:

My hubby has vision problems, is diabetic and 67yrs. old. I'm 60, bad knees and overweight. He does all the outside stuff, I do all the inside stuff and driving/towing. If something happens to me, he can't drive the rig and so he'd have to move to an apt. or assisted living close to our daughters. If something happens to him, I don't want to RV alone. But I also don't want to be a built in babysitter for 6 grandkids with my twin daughters. So what to do? I don't know yet...so, like Scarlett O'Hara said "I'll think about that tomorrow." For now we are enjoying each other's company, doing nothing, or whatever we want. Exploring the area, and vegging. About time after raising 4 kids, wouldn't you say?

14 years.
No.
Nothing, hated it all the time we lived in one. Ive been camping since 1935, and loved it, wanted more of it, could not do it except weekends and vacations. Could not wait until we left it. Resented having to wait for my wife to retire, and went camping without her until she did.
Never.
No, will give up my lifestyle, when I die.

Two of my kids have been trying to talk us into moving in with them for several years. My daughter took care of her MIL for ten years, until she died.

My wife was nervous as I have two bad heart valves, my heart is less than 50% as effective as normal, so I breathe deeper to help compensate. Am short winded when I walk more than 50+ feet (Get less than 50% oxygen from lungs to my body.) I just walk as far as possible, stop and rest, then walk some more. If necessary, will get an oxygen tank to carry. Have never smoked, and never will.

If I die on the road or have to have emergency surgery etc. MASA will pay for a Medical Chopper to take me to the nearest hospital. If I need heart surgery or something they cant do there, MASA will MedEvac me wherever necessary for surgery. They will fly one of my kids to the hospital and pay accommodation's for a week. Will furnish a companion to fly with my wife to that hospital.

IF I do not survive, MASA will deliver the MH wherever she wants, probably the Thousand Trails campground in CA we call home. They will furnish a driver to drive it there. If she decided she wants to stay with one of the Kids, one of my son's will drive the MH to their property. She still wants to live in it as long as possible.

Its a great insurance policy, my wife now does not worry over what she will do if something happens to me on the road. It also covers her, if she should need it.

Plan ahead, it eliminates all problems and concerns.

Linda, since you already do the driving, if it were me, I'd make sure I knew how to do all of the outside stuff, then I'd probably drive to whatever spot I had really enjoyed and plop down for awhile until I was ready to make a move. We have met a lot of single women who fulltime and they enjoy it. Several do volunteer work as a way of helping to defray expenses, stay active, and meet people in the areas as they travel.
