So I am a bit of whimp when it comes to the heat and being in the tent. We are going camping on Monday for three days and Monday is supposed to be super hot(well to me super hot when I don't have a/c). We will not have any electric at the site. But, we will be camping later this summer and we will have electric and I am thinking a fan in the tent should work well.
So what are your tips and tricks to staying cool in the tent?

Hmm... That's one of two main reasons we bought a tent trailer; then later a travel trailer. The other being bathroom facilities.
As to keeping cool, short of an air conditioner there really is nothing you can do to keep a tent cool. If it's hot outside, it's hot inside. The biggest thing is to keep the tent in the shade. And if there is none, make some with a tarp and some rope. A fan will do little more than circulate the hot air. However, a fan at night does a great job of making it comfortable enough to sleep.
While my wife refuses to tent camp anymore, I still do; either solo or with the guys. However, I will not tent camp where/when it's hot. In the Summer I tent camp in the mountains. Anywhere else I'll bring the trailer. Primarily for the A/C.
But, as I already have a very nice generator (two, actually) I'd be all over the AC Boot if I was tent camping in the heat.

For our teenager (and whatever friends she brings along) we bought a Eureka Copper-Canyon 10. The full mesh roof and huge windows let in a lot of fresh air. Combined with a fan, any breeze makes it livable inside.

Make sure you have a tent that has really good ventilation but at the same time will keep you warm and dry if it rains. When deciding where to put the tent, you should find an area where it will have minimal sunlight during the warmest times in the day. If your tent does have good ventilation, the temperature in the tent should be cool enough to sleep at night.
Lots of cold fluids and shade. If there's a beach at the campgrounds, you should spend the day there but bring sunscreen and a beach umbrella. Even though it'll be hot, there will be a constant breeze at the beach. And dipping in the water will help you cool down.

No beach on this trip. Usually my criteria if it is going to be hot we are going to be in the mountains or the beach!
We are camping near Disneyland and the campground does have a pool and hopefully shady area in the tent area!
Our tent is well vented but, just wanted to make sure I was not missing something in how to keep your tent cool. Well besides the A/C boot I have seen that before!
Our next step is a trailer. DH is hedging a bit on it saying it is not "real" camping. I say phooey, I do most of the camping with out him anyway LOL

I just got a portable A/C unit for my Pop Up. It worked great! Can't say how well it'll function in a tent with all that open mesh on the roof, though. If you can close it up tight enough, it would keep you pretty cool. It kept my PUP at about 73 degrees all night.
I'm planning on using it to tent camp, too. So I guess I'll find out soon enough.
This weekend is a primitive camping/canoe trip on Current River, though. No A/C for us I'm afraid. I do have some battery powered ceiling fan/lights that I'm bringing along.

Well, you've probably already left by now but, my suggestion would be to start conditioning yourself to the heat. At home start spending time outside in the 'heat' of the day. That way you won't feel as hot when you go camping. I mean I about spit water all over the key board when I read you where going to Anaheim and it was going to be hot. I would not call the mid-80's during the day and the low 60's during the night hot. Heck, our home A/C is set to 80! Of course, when we go camping in Colorado we are freezing at night because, anything below 50 is 'cold' to us. However, after a couple of days we start to get use to it so, it isn't as bad. You can train your body to tolerate a different temperature set.
