When we went to pick up our Aussie, He was the only one left and the breader called out " Aussie dog" and he came running. So we just changed the spelling to Auzzie
Our old dog was a German Shepherd named Alexander. I wanted a different name insted of the usuall "Duke, King , Prince etc." that they normally get
Here he is at 14 years old (we lost him when he was 15 )
Trusty was his name when we got him from Guide Dogs For The Blind. It stuck, because we could trust him with food in plane site and he would not touch it.
The SPCA named our dog Willow because that was the name of the street she was found on. She is such a great dog who was running out of time because of her large size and a year old. Our first year was horrible because she'd been wild but 9 years later you couldn't ask for a better pet.
Dolly was named after the movie "Hello Dolly". and the people who we got her from was calling her "little girl" Dh didn't think it would be a good idea to be running through campgrounds yelling "little girl" should she happen to escape or even at home for that matter.
Moose was named buy my sons ex-girlfriend, who found him waundering.
Valentine was named becuase I got her on Valentines Day as a birthday present from an old cutomer at the store.
Splash, when she was a pup she had a splash of white on the back of her neck. It has since gone black like most of her coat. Her true name is Echo's Angel, because her mama is named Echo and she is an angel.
Our Angel left us two years ago this past May. My wife brought her home from the pound on Christmas Eve in 1994 as a surprise for me. She had a little pink cast on her broken leg. She was also apparently abused and neglected from birth. If you went to pet her she would shy away. Well, we just could not think of a fitting name. We took her with us to my parents on Christmas Day. My mother made a comment that "She must have had a Guardian Angel watching over her for Lisa to bring her home". Hmmm, Angel? On Christmas, none the less?? The name stuck right then and there. She LOVED to camp and was the best beast a guy ever had. This past September I had her portrait tatooed on my upper arm with "My Guardian Angel" lettered underneath.
We got our first dog at the pound. She is a border collie mix. Her name was already Diamond so although I don't really like that name we kept it. She also goes by "girlie" (my husband's nickname for her)and "pretty princess puppy dog"(my nickname for her). She is now 11 years old.
The second dog is Dusty. He looks like a miniature golden. One of the ladies I work with ended up with him. Her 16 year old daughter brought him home from the parking lot at Walmart. She wouldn't/couldn't keep him so she brought him to work and showed him to me and that was all it took. He also goes by "dustmop" and "baby boy". He is going to turn 4 on 4th of July.
The third dog is Trooper. She is a Rottweiler. She was tied to a tree in the middle of August and left for whatever. My co-worker found out about her and took her home but she couldn't keep her. She sent out an email asking for someone who could. So of course we brought her home and named her Revo. My husband picked that name out. Anyway, two days later she was acting very listless and she wouldn't eat. I took her to the vet immediately and found out that she had parvo. After seven days of treatments, three treatments per day and countless hours of holding her and rocking her like a newborn, she finally recovered. We decided that she deserved a name to reflect all she had been through hence Trooper. I always say she was the most expensive free dog I ever had She also goes by "Big Bertha" and "Nubby". She just turned 1 in April.
Luckily, we can only have three dogs where I live so I can't take in any more...haha.
Our 184 pound Mastiff is named Zeus, he came with his name when we adopted him at 4 months, we tried to change it but Zeus just stuck. I have always wanted a bloodhound named Belvidere, I have no idea why
My son and I went to the pet store to look at fish.
We spied this little out-of-place brown/white and black dog (all the others in the cage were black and white) in the corner, and my son fell in love instantly.
The shop staff took this small little guy out of the cage and my son was able to hold him for a while and play with him on the floor.
My son looked at me, and asked me if we could adopt "Sam".
Hence, Sammy became part of our lives.
We love our Sammy.
