We live and work here in the community, and cannot just pack up and leave.
Since my OP, management has been monitoring all pool activity because of multiple complaints. (and no, not all complaints came from me)
This is a beautiful, peaceful, safe campground. There is a waiting list to live here. I am not going to pack up and leave just because of people breaking the rules.
For everyone's information - the majority of campers and residents here are retired, over the age of 50 and very respectful of others, that is why we chose to live here. There are very few young families that come in here simply because there are no kids activities.
Some of you took offense to my OP, calling me an elitist and making statements to the effect that I may be misjudging people. Well, if you read my OP - I was NOT judging anyone. I asked for opinions and I shared a negative experience. I suggest that in the future, you read the OP very carefully and not jump to conclusions.
Okie dokie. I just know that sometimes we pile in like that cause it's too hard to bike it or walk with all that stuff. And i guess if the "locals" are coming in time & time again that sort of gives them away too....LOL
Sounds like you have a nice campground there. Hopefully managements monitoring will calm things down & it will be nicer for everyone.

This one sentence nailed 90% of all the nasty comments on this forum. People don't read the OP and then make uncalled for comments or if they do read the OP, their comprehension of what was said is extremely poor. Many just read the header and nothing else. We moved out of a park for very similar reasons and there the management was money hungry, without any concern for their RV guest.

We had the same problems recently at a motel. We had went to the VA Hospital and were required to spend an extra night. We had our 10 yr old DGD with us. The VA put us up in a motel.
We we got to the motel, it was very nice and had a nice pool. We had no swimsuits with us, so off to Wal-Mart. DGD and I went to the pool early in the afternoon, decided to rest and come back in the early evening.
By 6pm, the family of the lady working the office came and piled into the pool. I counted 4 adults and 18 children, probably ages 5-13. Oh My, the noise was almost unbearable. Running, diving, yelling and splashing every where. I really had no right to complain, as the VA was paying for our room and my DGD enjoyed playing with the kids. They were in the pool from shortly before 6pm until 9pm.
I saw many guest come to the pool and leave.
I am really not sure what I would have done if I had been paying for the room.
While camping at a local, for us, Jellystone park with our 7yo grand daughter the management allowed several local day camps in to use the facilities. It is their place and yes, for those looking to attack the op, they can do as they please with it.
However there was absolutely no mention of the facilities being available to the "public", read non campers, posted anywhere in the registration office when we checked in to camp, had there been we would have gone elsewhere. Agreed, "you could have moved on" but we felt that this public usage should have been declared at check in rather than after the fact and after setting up our campsite.
We ended up waiting until the day camp groups went home and then used the facilities. Actually there were so many day campers that the pool and adjacent small lake with the water slide required considerable waits for a turn.
There was management supervision at the lakeside water slide but none visible at the pool area during public day camp use. Food and beverage containers of all types around the concrete pool deck. Way too much rough housing even for a grand parent supervised 7yo to be around.
We did have a nice visit with our grand daughter and did, after day camp hours, enjoy the camp ground and its' many attractions. Would we go back there? Probably not. Did we feel that there was an error of omission by the Park owners by not disclosing their day camp program? Absolutely.
Are we elitist? I wonder if those who participate in these name callings would do so in person, face to face. I seriously doubt it.
The seasonal campground we have been at for 4 years has a motel next door, the owner also owns the campground. Twice so far this season guests at the motel have been shooting off fireworks down by the fishing pond late at night, after 10:00.
A few people complained (not us we enjoy it) to the owner and he basically told him he can't afford to lose motel guests, there's a waiting list for the camground, don't like it, leave but in a nicer way....

We were given a resort membership. The CG is only about 25 miles away. It has 3 pools and we would fall into the go up there and use it for the day people. We also camp there in the off season. It is too crowded to camp at in the summer and unless you time it right and get one of the better sites and not the back to back sardine sites.
But since it is private and larger campground...they actually have an older gent who camps there all summer long and he is the "pool enforcer". I have to say it is nice, and he has and will kick out people/teens for the day even if you are camping if you don't abide by the rules.
KC8WX wrote: We have experienced this at one place we stay at in upper Michigan. It is supposed to be a "Resort" Campground. It's expensive. We were disappointed to learn last year they also let the "Locals" (Defined as Neighbors of the Campground) into the Pool area for a small fee and once you are that far in you can go anywhere, so no security in that at all. These are people living in homes surrounding the campground and they walk in. Adding their numbers into the pool area with a campground this size it does make it pretty crowded all around it and in the water. We end up avoiding those times which is really prime pool time. They also have access to the Snack Area, CampStore and Lounge, basically the run of the place.
Now how can it be fair to the campers there footing the majority of the bill for our getaway place, to have to rearrange our pool times to avoid the overcrowded pool area when the walkin's are only paying like $2.50 to get in and we are paying $45+ a night to have all those amenities?? I think it is Reasonable to expect a "Resort" Campground to act and seem like a "Resort" Campground.
For the number of sites filled in every night paying these rates, I think it's not the thing to be allowing since you don't find out about it until you get there and see what is going on.
In momschool's case, being Full Time Residents, it is Reasonable to expect to have Some influence over Management to have the Published Campground Rules Enforced Equally. That's not being Elitist, it's getting what you are paying for. Either they live up to their own policies or time to move elsewhere where Management cares about their base customers who provide their core income. That's where the wheels come into play.
I agree on the Ohio State Parks too. It's what we do most of the time for local camping. Rangers usually patrolling all night long.
Finally! Someone who sees my point. I am not an elitist, in fact I never even heard that word used until I started using this forum (LOL).
I am happy to say that because I spoke up in the campground office, several other residents and even campers spoke up as well and there are stricter guidelines and rules for the locals who come to swim. Several groups have been kicked out already.
I enjoyed the conversation on this topic - thank you!

EXACTLY!!! This is a private campground. It should remain that way.
Wow, if I wanted to relax, the last place I would go is a swimming pool.
