I have seen RV's camped at Derby Junction on the Colorado River just down river from Burns and Bond, just room for 3 or 4 across the dirt road from a store. I am looking for information on the place, is it a campground, a wide spot along the river on public land or just a private family camp? One of the many places I have seen but never stopped to ask about.

I haven't been too Burns in years. I used to camp on the Co river then fish up stream. I took a ton of trout out of there before they dumped the oil tank into the river, then no game fish.
If we ran short of supply's we'd head to Burns. Only a geneal store and single gas pump at that time, many many moons ago

T Bone- Thanks for the reply. It looks like we may be the only 2 to know where Burns is. I have floated through there and have seen some very big trout away from the road but never fished that area.

Well here's one more that knows where that is. Many moons ago we used to hunt sage grouse on the BLM land west of Burns. I remember the general store there. It had an old stryle gas pump. The one where you pump the gas into a glass bowl above the pump and gravity feed it into your tank, 5 gallons at a time. I haven't been there in quite a while and I'm sure it's changed bt now. You can camp anywhere on the BLM land
Oh, there are a few others of us that know where Burns is -- but we've been out of state camping! Here is a link to the BLM website about dispersed camping locations along that strectch of the Colorado. The Pinball site is four miles downstream from Burns, so that doesn't match your description.
I also found a brochure on rafting this section of the Colorado. Download this brochure and go down to page 21, where they describe the Burns put in and mention a small campsite at the Burns put in. The descriptions of the various sections of river do mention other small campsites. Nothing specific at Derby Junction, but hopefully you'll find the info you are looking for there.
We haven't been by since the fire at the State Bridge Lodge. Have you?
We have not been by State Bridge since the fire but tomorrow we plan a day trip over Gore Pass and down the Colorado to I70 at Dotsero. I may cut it short and come back by State Bridge and Pump House.
4runnerguy- The BLM link (thank you) shows the Derby Junction site as private land but has some private land as BLM. I am sure it's right about Derby Junction so I will ask about camping tomorrow.
4runnerguy- State Bridge Lodge is a hole in the ground with just part of the foundation showing where it's built into the hillside. The cabins are still being used. There were about 200 or more teenagers at the bridge and driving up and down the river. Derby Junction was private land.
