We travel with a Golden Retriever and at one point a German Sheperd. It amazes me how many people with small yappy dogs think the rules or not for them. Our Sheperd would only bark when someone came to our door. She was alway out on a lease and we always picked up after her. THe GR is extremely quiet and never barks even at home. Yet when we take her out she will be barked at and charged by little yappy dogs not on a leash. If our sheperd had gone after on the lose dogs we would have been the one in trouble even though she was on leash. Now that she is gone the GR just hides. Sorry for the rant I'm sick and tired of these inconsiderate dog owners.

I have had many dogs although none now.
A badly behaved dog it nothing but a reflection of the owner's lack of caring or discipline.

I think I would have asked the the yappy dogs and their owners be moved. Just because a breed is known to be a yappy breed, doesn't mean the own needs to ignore the dogs bad behavior.

Don't pick on Mandrake, he is probably one of, if not the most mellow, least nit picky person on this forum. He was playing with you.

Or ask them to go back to where they came from!

I don't understand how people can stand to listen to their own dogs yap endlessly. It would drive me batty! The first rule any of our dogs ever learned was "NO BARK!".

We had the same thing happen to us this week. We pulled into a campground in Wyoming about 1 pm on Tuesday. I noticed that the folks parked behind us has two little Doxies in a pen behind their trailer. At first I commented to my dh about how cute they were.
Well,,, by 8 pm and listening to them bark for 7 straight hours, they were not so cute anymore. After dinner we took a walk around the campground and stopped in the office/store. I finally asked the manager if anyone has complained about the barking dogs? He acted surprised and said no, but that he had been busy. A lady from the motel next store was there also and commented that she also has been annoyed by the hours of constant barking..
Finally the manager asked what site the dogs were in? Low and behold, he went out and asked the (brain dead) owner to quiet the dogs.
The owners were outside all day with other rv'ers all of who were in a trailer rv club. They just mostly sat outside with their group of friends and ignored the barking of their pups. Once in a while the husband or the wife would walk over to the pen and squirt the dogs with bottle of water..... Never once in those 7 hours did they think to put the dogs inside their trailer, or take them to the party site with their friends.
What I learned from this, was to not put up with this nonsense and go the the office and complain if the barking lasts more than 30 minutes...Shame on people who have no consideration for others...

It will never end.
I can sympathize with you, but unfortunately every dog owner in the world thinks that their dog can do no wrong, and they also think that every one else in the world loves their precious poochie.

We always had a dog with the kids when they were growing up, but now that we are older, and we travel a lot with our TT, we won't get one until we are confined to rocking chairs since we respect our RV'ing neighbors rights for peace and quiet.

As with almost all gross generalizations, this one is completely false.
