Hello, I am new here. First time folding trailer owner, I just bought a 2008 Fleetwood Niagara. I tow with a 2006 Trailblazer SS AWD
Set to pick it up Monday, here are a couple pics. A/C Unit is being installed on it before I pick it up.

Any tips or tricks for the first time out?

I've got a 2006 Niagara and love it. Tows well, manouvers well, and the inside space and amenities are very nice.
When you pick up your unit, be sure that those outside vents are secure to the camper - I lost one on my first trip out. And, to play it safe I now remove both before going on the road.
The threads on the screw down stabilizers take alot of abuse when on the road, so you might want to keep lubricant on hand (I end up lubricating every two-three trips).
She's a big unit, and I've found it helpful to have a sponge mop to push in the tenting when lowering the roof so it's not all bunched up. And, I unzip the windows a few inches to allow the air to escape when lowering the roof - then, when lowered I give the roof a few minutes to settle before attempting to latch or I have one corner that won't meet!
I purchased a "couple-mate" which has been a blessing when hooking up - if the tongue is within the "V", the couple-mate will guide the tongue over the ball - which saves time and relationships!
I think you will really be pleased with your new PUP.

Spawnedv, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new camper. My two tips would be: - Read all the manuals that came with the pup and
- Camp for a weekend at Camp Drive way and figure out how everything works and what you will need to carry.
Happy camping.

PS since I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy, I will suggest that you evaluate my "Must Haves" and see how much more debt you can get yourself into
Fleetwood Evolution E3 - Yellow (DW let me get a Yellow one since she wanted an E3 with a slide out )
Hummer H2 - Black (DW vetoed the Yellow one, but I got two Yellow Hummer Folding Mountain bikes )

Congrats on the new camper! We have an '07 Niagara and enjoy it immensely. Beside the basic must haves (wheel chocks, first aid kit, some type of leveling equipment, etc...) we use 2 inexpensive walkie talkies to help with backing the trailer into position. It is a real help instead of yelling out the windows. Make sure you get a good walk thru when you pick it up and don't hesitate to ask questions or have the salesperson demonstrate something over. Practice a little backing up in an empty parking lot before going camping. And as mentioned above, camp a weekend in the driveway before heading out for the real thing. This really gives a good idea of what to bring/leave home. Always find room to take your manuals with you and read them from time to time. Don't forget the pie irons, bread and fillings!
We all have had SPUTs (Stupid Pop Up Tricks), so don't be embarrassed to ask for advice/help on line - I've learned a lot here. Happy Camping!

If you don't already have a sway control bar get one. It helped when we towed a 2000 Utah with our Explorer. We really enjoyed our Utah and seriously considered a new PUP last year. A good set of tow mirrors is a must. Enjoy your PUP.

Congrats!! We have an 07 that we bought last August. We have had a good time in it all year.
Beware of the cabinet under the sink with the wheel well in it. We rubbed a hole in ours the very first time out, as did someone else on this forum, by putting stuff on top of the wheel well. My DH made a fabulous "floating" shelf for it after that, now I can load it up with canned goods and don't have to worry. And the other thing that happened the very first time we popped it up in our driveway, was the faucet got stuck in the tenting and broke right off. The dealer forgot to tell us to take it off before cranking down.
It's a great unit, we love it. Have fun and happy camping!

Funny, our dealer told us specifically the faucet wasn't an issue. I will have to double check with that when I go up there.

We don't do this in our Niagara - I think it would be a "big deal" to take the faucet off every time! Our faucet is always over one of the sinks when we fold up. Has never been a problem...
