We have a Trail Crusier by R-Vision. We need a bike rack to hul our bike with because we pull our camper with a conversion van. We were looking into something that could be rear mounted on the trailer. Any suggestions from anyone?

rear mounted bike racks typically don't work well with trailers. Some main reasons are the excess bouncing on the back of a TT puts added force on the rack. Also, the bumpers are just thin aluminum not meant to withstand those forces and it will break. Just do a search on bike racks in this forum and you will get enough information to read for hours about those that have been there done that.

Best type would be the Toppoprails system - though pretty costly it's a better way to haul bikes than a rear mounted system on the TT.

We just toss ours inside the TT and cover with some moving tarps.

Put a front 2" receiver on your TV if you can, then carry the bikes in front of you. Less bouncing and you can keep an eye on them. I have a TC C21RBH and learned that the rear bumber is junk (the hard way). Just glad I didn't lose the bikes.

You could search this Forum for `bike rack' and read yourself to sleep. This is one of the much discussed topics.
I always recommend looking into the Dahon foldups that are for sale at Camping World. I think they are two bikes for $399. You fold them up and store them almost anywhere.

I have a Reese 4 bike rack made for the rear bumper of my TT. You will hear a lot of bad stories about mounting a bike rack on the rear bumper but it can be done very safely. First is to make sure you have a bumper and not a aluminum shell. My bumper is square steel tubing 1/4" thick with a aluminum skin, my bumper has plenty of reinforcing as well. The horror stories you hear about are people not looking at the structure they are bolting the rack too. You should always check the area for any stress cracks just to be sure. Of course another route is a receiver hitch on the front of your TV and mount the bikes there.

I too was looking for a bike rack for the bumper of the trailer, and was told the same thing by a local RV dealer (not where we bought the TT from). And I accepted it at first, but then got to thinking - my spare tire is mounted to that very same bumper!! Does that mean that my TT ('08 Springdale) has a "real" bumper and has the capacity to handle a bike rack?

I would also recommend the rack from Top Pop Rails. I installed one on our trailer at the beginning of the season and have been very happy with it. I posted a picture of the installation in The Mod link in our signature if you're interested. Good luck...

The following has worked wonderfully for me: I went to a local welding shop who welded a receiver to the frame at rear of the trailer. The receiver frame runs the full width of the trailer and is welded to the trailer frame. This accomodates my 4-bike bike rack nicely. Parts and labor for this set-up when I had it done in '05 was $250.
