Well, it's been a while since I've been in this forum. We traded our 5th wheel for a Class C in 2004. Vowed I'd never do a tow behind again but sometimes things change.

We're thinking of going back to a pop-up or maybe a small TT/hybrid. We hardly use the Endura and now with fuel costs it seems to make some sense to go backwards so-to-speak if we decide to (or even can) sell the Endura. We now have a Toyota Tacoma quad cab long bed pick-up with a tow capacity of 6500 lbs. Looking for anyone who tows w/a Tacoma i.e. what do you tow, how long, etc. Used to towing w/F350. Want to avoid the tail wagging the dog situation. Run into that occassionally towing the Tahoe behind the Endura and it isn't any fun!

I have towed my rockcrawler '85 4Runner on an 18' trailer behind my Tacoma for up to 40 miles with no trouble at all. I did use sway control, trailer brakes on both axles, and a weight distributing hitch. The Tacoma is a great platform and tows well, you will have no trouble with any popup out there. You could also tow a small travel trailer or hybrid probably up to around 20' and not more than 4500 pounds or so dry weight.

If you are trading just because of fuel prices, I would think about reconsidering.

With the fuel situation the way it is, It is doubtful that you will find a buyer at anywhere near the price you want.

Any type of trailer pulled with the Tacoma, with the exception of a pop up or HI-Lo would most likely just get 1-2 MPG better than your Endura anyway due to the wind resistance. There is really no way around this unless you get a foldable type RV.

Mopar, it's not just mileage, it's lack of use. There's a whole lotta dough sitting in my driveway not being used. Mileage is a secondary consideration. Even towing I don't think my mpg will drop to 7.5 mpg.

Moderator, I probably should have posted this in the Tow Vehicles forum. What say you?

I think you have it in the correct forum now. If you don't get many replies, I will move it there.
Welcome back! (Been washing your rig in any campgrounds lately? )

Crowe, I have a Tacoma Double Cab short bed and tow a Jayco 213 (4300# dry). I use an Equalizer WD hitch and Prodigy controller. Been from Indiana to Yellowstone and back. Averaged 10 mpg on the trip, including miles unhitched. Worst was 6 mpg crossing Iowa with a head wind. With equalizer I get a mild lateral push when being passed by semis going the same direction. Meeting one on a two lane is no problem because the push is so brief the hitch damps it.

OOPS! I guess I confused you with another member who had a problem with a campground quite a few years ago. Sorry. But welcome back anyway!!
