Here's another "Towing with the Tacoma" thread that will give you some brands/floorplans to start your research:

That thread is for a 2000 model Tacoma-big difference between that and an '05+.

Yes, you are correct, however the thread itself has a lot of leads to smaller trailers that would work with his Tacoma also - to at least get him started with what is out there as far as brands, floorplans, sizes, weights etc. which was the reason I posted it. Not to compare trucks.

Yes, the '05's are bigger, however it doesn't negate the fact that his Tacoma is still considered a mini-truck/small truck and he is limited to weight and size because of this.

With a 6500#'s tow cap - i'd be looking at trailers around 3500 dry weight. This will allow decent loading without pinching pounds with stuff that wants to come along and will keep it enough below his tow max not to max out his truck.

Of course, my opinion only cost .02

I disagree with the 3500# dry weight. I've towed about 6000 miles with my 2800# dry weight 21' TT with my 07 quaud cab Tacoma. I've had no problems at all towing and keeping up with traffic. Very seldom do I have to get my engine rpm up to 3000 and that's with my DW and my two adult sized boys. I'd figure I could tow up to about 4500# if I needed. IMO

Just want to thank everyone for their help but we've decided not to go this route for various reasons. Appreciate all your input!
