Our kids are grown and we have grandkids. Listening to our grandkids and son in law we bought a bunkhouse. Well the grandkids ended up sleeping on the dinette table that made a bed. Our daughter and SIL would sleep on the sofa that made a bed. Being the younger generation they like to sleep later that we do. It made it a problem getting up in the morning and not being able to get to the kitchen to make coffee without stepping over the sofa bed corner. Four years later we traded for a rear living room. DW and I are much happier and even the grandkids and SIL like it better also. A lot more living area to watch TV etc. and still plenty of sleeping area. Also a suggestion, a sofa that folds out and makes a bed to me is a must for a rear living room. Wish we had bought the rear living room first, then we would not have traded.
We just traded in our TT for a Spree fiver w/ a front bunkhouse and love it! Have two kids, one is 13 the other is 2. The 13 year old brings a friend most of the time. Four bunks is great, large bathroom connected to the bunkhouse for dressing. There is some floor space to play games etc. As for living space, the U-shaped dinette is HUGE. Sofa is a jack-knife type, but the dinette goes into a pretty large bed. As for storage, I haven't even filled all the cupboards yet.
After being in this unit, I can't believe we waited this long to switch to a bunkhouse. Model is a Spree 305BH
At least the kids have their own space if they need it.
I am also looking for that bunkhouse with a full size bunkroom with slideout for the kids and a real living room for the adults. I don't care if it is 40' as long as I can pull it with my dually and not have to spend a fortune.

Just a thought but also consider a toyhauler. Some come with bunks and you can use the space for other things also. Check out the Excel Wild Cargo. Nice layout but is 40' long.

Agreed! My kids aren't allowed to sleep in front of the TV, they are usually put in bed by themselves anyway (don't know how I got blessed with that!)
Our bunkhouse is a quad slide so the back room opens up into a 8x8 play area, it is well used by the kids, keeps all of their stuff from being underfoot in the living area.

The first time we put the kids to bed, closed the door and sat in the living room together, DW and I knew we made the right choice. In the morning, they woke up and watched tv in bed while we slept in the privacy of our room on the other side of the rig. Someday, if fossil fuels still exist, we will get rid of the bunk house, and get a rear living space but that will happen after the boys move on.
I do hope I am doing things right as a parent. When we shopped for our rig, we got adequate space for the boys. I was not going to put extra weight into their room. Also, I am the parent, they sleep in their beds, not the living space. They are happy and I am surprised how many of their cousins can squeeze into that bunk space and still close the door. ahhh the quiet!
We leave for Yellowstone in a week and they have already stashed their favorite toys next ot their beds.
