Last year on our trip to Estes Park with our travel trailer, we stayed overnight at a state park to break the trip up. I lowered the tongue jack to level, unplugged the electrical cable, and we stayed hooked up. It is OK to do the same with a 5er if the site is fairly level? I figure lifting the truck by the hitch to level probably isn't a good idea. What do you think?
We do that often when we're just overnighting enroute. We don't even unhook the umbilical --- we used to, but one time I broke camp next morning and headed on down the road with no trailer brakes (or lights). Decided unplugging wasn't necessary after that.
Lifting the truck by the hitch prolly not a cool idea, but we do drop the forward landing gear and take enough weight to help stabilize the trailer. Since we tow pretty level, it doesn't take much.

We're staying at a RV park in Amarillo right off I40. Many of the units are here just for overnight. I notice a mixture of hooked and unhooked. i see no problem with staying hooked as long as it is level enough for you to sleep comfortable. I usually unhook the truck from the power cord, so I don't drag the truck battery down. Maybe that ia not necesary but that is what I would do.
I never disconnect for overnight stops just level side to side drop the landing gear and rear stabs just to steady the rig, not to try to level. The TV automatically disconnects power when the key is off so no need to unplug the cord.

If it is reasonably level there is no reason to do anything but get some sleep. If you want to put the legs down to help stablize then just go enough to take most of the weight off the hitch without actually lifting the truck.

We never unhook for overnight. I find a level space an drop the jack just enough to stablize a bit. I have left the TT an TV connected for over 2 weeks now as we will be camping every weekend this month. I will unhook once at the campground. Have done this for years with no problems.

Hauls better 1/2, 3 kids, myself, and a 2003 ez go clays car.. I have added so far, neon lights, clearance lights, back up lights, black light, lift kit, mud tires, and everything necessary to make the golf cart street legal. It's now ready to spend the winter in the garage for more mods. More neon, strobe lights, alarm, a pa system, maintance, and whatever else that comes along. This golf cart does wheelies and travels thru 7 inches of mud when need be. Two honda eu2000i gens twinned to supply the electrical power. Latest addition an 04 Honda Goldwing. We also don't unhitch for over-nighters. I just drop the landing gear to take some weight off the hitch and stabilize the 5er and I unplug from the truck.

I unhook at nightly stops because, then I can go shopping for fuel with the TV alone. Easier to get in & out of stations. I have two tanks, so can drive from one spot to another. Also can go to restaurants if we want to or the store for more beer.

On Fords the TV battery is disconnected as soon as you turn off the key.
