Police are looking for a father who allegedly abducted his 9-year-old son from Lake Forest on Wednesday after shooting and injuring the boy's mother. He is believed to be driving a motor home today, police said.
Ryan Ramos is believed to have been taken by his father, 46-year-old Lonnie Ramos, during a custody exchange between the man and his estranged wife in front of the wife's house, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Hal Brotheim.
Lonnie Ramos allegedly shot his wife and then fled with his son, Brotheim said.
The boy's mother is expected to survive her injuries, according to Brotheim.
Lonnie Ramos is described as white, about 6 feet 3 inches and 180 pounds. He is believed to have rented a 39-foot 2005 Fleetwood Providence purple and gold motor home Wednesday with California license plate No. 5EGW556, Brotheim said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information to call (714) 628-7170 or 911.
This morning on the freeway signs they said they were in a red Porche and the news on the radio said either a Porche or a white suburban. Hope they find them.

This type of post is certainly commendable, but it would help if the poster included city and state in the information. There are often cities and counties in the United States that are used in multiple locations. MHO
I bet he hopes he fairs better than the one just this week in Wisconsin. Same scenario harmed wife took the child and ran. Only when the police caught up to him they shot and killed him. Thankfully the child was ok.

Posted: 2:14 PM- Police have canceled a Utah Amber Alert for a 9-year-old California boy who they believe was kidnapped by his father.
Less than a day after Lonnie Ramos, 46, allegedly shot his estranged wife, he was seen abandoning his motor home in Andrade, Calif., and walking across the border into Mexico with his son Ryan in tow, said Orange County Sheriff Department Sgt. Kevin Bieker.
Ramos' wife had come to his house in Lake Forest, Calif., about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to pick up the boy, and was sitting behind the wheel of her car when he shot her. A friend was in the front seat and a 4-year-old girl in back.
They were not injured; Ramos' wife is in critical but stable condition in an Orange County hospital.
The Amber Alert went out to Utah late Friday because Ramos has a girlfriend in Draper, police said. It was canceled at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. A Wednesday sighting of the motor home in Utah was likely mistaken, Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Police are planning to search the motor home, a 2005 Fleetwood Providence, for possible clues and then work with Mexican authorities to pursue Ramos, Amormino said.
Mexican law prevents its citizens from being extradited to the United States for death penalty charges, but Ramos is neither a Mexican citizen nor a death penalty candidate, Amormino said.
If Ramos's wife were to die, it could become a death penalty case, he said.
