We have noticed the campgrounds are full and saw a lot of campers on the roads. All kinds of trailers, motor homes and 5th wheels. This campground we are staying, has over a 100 spaces and they are all booked and full. So people are still camping and traveling. Lots of license plates from different states.
All the campgrounds and RV parks around us are full!

They sure are not here and at Daytona for the 400 most years you would see wall to wall trailers and RV`s but not a forth full so far for the race this year.
Also every motel along the beach has a vacate sign on.Past years they would not even rent you a room for less than three nights on the weekend of the 400.If you could find one.

I suspect that folks in the tourist "hot spots" notice a LOT less difference from other years but over a large part of the country you find only local units in the campgrounds.

I would bet that a lot of folks have been planning and saving for this summer's vacation, so all they really need to do is ucome up with extra cash to cover the higher gas prices. I think next summer will be a big difference if gas continues on it's current trend.

We're pretty full and everyone's being nice. Does it really matter as long as YOU'RE having fun? We can cuss and discuss "are they traveling or not" all day long. Let it go and just enjoy.

Trying to stay in my home state I started checking WA State Parks. No open weekends until October You can find week days. I've only been doing the RV thing for a few years but this summer appears far busier than the previous ones! I live in a "border town" and there is a constant daily parade of RV's going both north and south! I started making reservations for next year!

Happy Camping!

Most people book several months ahead of busy weekends. Plan ahead and enjoy.

We are going to Yellowstone this year and assume it will be busy as usual. I figure I will only spend an extra 150 bucks in gas for this trip. That is NOT much money and probably about 10 percent more. Not a big deal in my book. 20 bucks extra a day???? No stopping me yet, it will have to be 10 bucks a gallon before I slow down.

I'm staying home. Until the holiday weekend is over, at least. There will be lots of room in the CGs after that.

It was weird - I took a 240 mile trip yesterday (7/3) and I saw very few RV's on the road. It was before noon - maybe people were waiting until they got off work?
