This campground we are staying, has over a 100 spaces and they are all booked and full. So people are still camping and traveling. Lots of license plates from different states.
All the campgrounds and RV parks around us are full! I stopped in Quartzite a few days back to get fuel, they were empty in most parks.

We just finished a slow easy trip up the coast of Maine and to Bar Harbor island. We did not see a no vacancy sign in two weeks of travel. Each campground that we stayed in still had sites open for the 4th weekend. There were few RV's on the road. DW is an antique book dealer and asked about business at each shop we stopped at. The answer was universal, traffic and business is down. We are always home for the summer holidays and the bookstore/barn is open as we are in rural New Hampshire on a tourist route. Yep traffic and sales are down here too.

It seems that not all the RVs vanished into thin air. Nor does it appear like all the money evaporated. Some of us still have a few bucks in our pockets. But, if the campgrounds are full,.....I better look at all my other options. There's a whole lot of other things happening around here, on this holiday weekend. There's even a Willie Nelson picnic that we might attend.

Amazing how folks see what they want to!
Most posters are reporting that RV travel and CG use is way down, as it is here.
Yet,some still see the roads crowded with RVs and overflowing Cgs.

There are 3 commercial CGs in town and today, is the 1st time this year they have been full. Tomorrow there are vacancies in all 3, so many are very local and not staying the whole weekend, plus here in Mormon country, there are always people leaving Sat for home. Travel is way down here.

SH wrote: Trying to stay in my home state I started checking WA State Parks. No open weekends until October You can find week days. I've only been doing the RV thing for a few years but this summer appears far busier than the previous ones! I live in a "border town" and there is a constant daily parade of RV's going both north and south! I started making reservations for next year!
Happy Camping!
Boy, isn't that the truth. Finally got 3 days (Mon-Wed) at Confluence State Park in Wenatchee for the 21-23rd. That means we have to move between state parks Monday morning.

Now this campground is using the "over flow area" Everything is full and the neighboring campgrounds are now full, no empty spaces.
With the diesel prices, we will spend a $100 more for every 1000 miles of travel. We will also be doing this is diesel hits $10.00 a gallon.

I believe if you check license plates you will find about 95% are local RVers. People are staying closer to home now that fuel prices are out of control.

If you had read my original post you would have read that I said several different states.
Most are from out of this state. Anywhere from Virginia, to California to Illinois and the deep south.
But I am not going to change the "gloom and doom people." It all depends on what you want to spend your money on. We choose to travel.

I just checked it is 110 to 115 deg. in Quartzsite, AZ I should think the RV parks would be empty. Go baak in January.
