Cajun palms Rv Resort, was the best campground we stayed at on our 7,000 mile cross country trip. The park is located at exit 115 on I-10, 1/2 mile from I-10. (Henderson La.heart of crawfish) This is a TRUE family campground!
I refer to "campground" only because usually in a "resort" you find more than half the people live there full time. Only the staff live on the grounds full time.
We travel a lot and it will rank in the top 2 of all the parks. we found it from a fellow we met in a houston park, he gave us the brochure and we were off.
The resort just opened in Jan/08 and is still adding on. some of the small stuff was not completed but what is completed will blow your mind for a campground.
first- you pay for up to six in your rig for a full site (water, sewer, cable and 50/30 amp) not like other parks that nickle and dime you for more than two people and the other add-ons. We paid $39.00 for five in my family.
second- all was included, again no nickle and dime for activities.
third-all staff, including the owners Mr.Lee and his wife were working and will/would do anything for you. The staff also ranked number one for our trip.
Fourth- This is a cash-less campground, you get wrist bands for you and the kids and you do not need to worry about your wallet or giving the kids money. bands are for the adults for the pool side area (food and drinks) kids can get a hot dog, pizza, drinks etc...from the cafe. Another great idea and first for our campground visits.
The fishing was great for my kids, the walks around the park were great, the people camping were the most friendliest, most were from the area. The pool will amaze you, pool side bar was a first for us and it was wonderful how Mr. lee designed it. At night the pool comes alive with tons of pool side activities for children and adults. The club house, 19,000 sq. ft. has every thing, pool table table tennis, work out room, meeting rooms and what was a true first for us was a full movie theater. (not a "movie room")
We added on a day, 4 nights in all, if we could stay longer we would have.
As we were pulling out, Mr.Lee ran out of the office to thank us for coming. This was also a first, we have been greeted with smiles in other parks when we check in and they take the money but never chased down when we were leaving. We stopped and spoke with Mr. Lee and shared our comments and had a great conversation.
I could go on for a long time but I need to stop.
Please keep in mind that this is a new campground and they are still adding on, building/adding new bath houses, adding the put golf wich is going to be amazing when it is done and adding another 150 full sites. Mr Lee and his wife are building the ultimate family campground (resort)and from speaking with them, I dont thing they will ever be finished.
We are 17 hours away from Cajun Palms and on our next trip, We will stay a week here and then move on.
Can't Wait....
We stayed there last weekend, had a family reunion there. It is only 25 miles from home.
