Seems to me that where you ARE is always the best place to own one. USE them wherever you want to but without going to a lot of trouble you OWN them where you live. I might also add that while NOW isn't the BEST time to own one at ALL it is probably better than NEXT YEAR.
How true. Also in Kansas, DW and I saw the world's largest free outdoor municipal swimming pool, the world's largest hand dug well, the world's largest easel, and the world's largest ball of twine. (Hopefully the well is still there after last years tornadoes.)
In California, we saw some big trees and the world's largest outdoor thermometer. It looks like Kansas has California beat for having more of the "world's largest"
I had not read all the replies, before I made my post. I want to make it plain that I really enjoyed our visit through Kansas. DW and I like finding the unusual and every state has its on. We also enjoyed the town of Nicodemus, KS which we discovered by accident and we also enjoyed our visit to California. Now with the cost of gas, we are finding a lot of things to do here in Georgia.

we don't have to go far around here for something to do, around here there is always something planed by local towns and areas.theres fireworks planned from last night and for the next few days, got to bring in those tourist dollars and give them something to do over the summer months, traffic has been heavy since the long weekend is here,I have a brook running thru the side yard and a small waterfalls its fixed up like a small park with a bridge and plenty of flowers and sitting areas and lit up at night with solar lights ill be camping out there cant beat the price .

Right about now, I would say the midwest would be the best place to own a BOAT. I feel bad for all those people dealing with the floods.
Have you seen the pictures from Iowa, etc., of the people
looting the liquor stores, carrying away televisions from
retail stores, sitting on the roof begging for someone to
take care of them; collected in the football stadium
complaining about the food and shelter being provided?
I would hope that most of us live where we want to live, so most of us probably think we're in the best place to own an RV. I'm in NE Wyoming and think it's pretty nice to be an hour or so from camping the Black Hills, Devils Tower or a large lake if the weather isn't too hot, or an hour from the Bighorn Mountains if it's too hot at lower elevations. That said, it would be nice to have a longer summer....

While I like where we live, just south of Dallas, I wouldn't live here if all my family wasn't here. I would be further west, in Utah, northern AZ or Colorado. There is NOTHING to do around here! There are State Parks for camping, but that's about it; not that State Parks aren't nice, but there's no scenery in this area. It's pretty flat, and even the "Texas Hill Country" is just that: hills. I much prefer the mountains! We don't do as much camping as we would if we lived somewhere else with more wilderness and more mountains.

My wife thinks I'm making lightning bugs up, her being from the west. I must say though, living in the Pacific Northwest has been wonderful as we have the mountains, the ocean, the forests, and lots of BLM land and boondocking places. What a great country we have that many of us from all parts of the country think that theirs is the best part! Happy Independence Day!
Lots of lightning bugs right now. Iowa has some nice state parks and plenty of county parks that are a pleasure to go to. I would estimate at least 20 camping parks within 50 miles of where I live. Range from $12 to $16 a night for a electric sight. Though not many full hookups there is water and sewer dump available at most parks. there is always something going on during the summer but I prefer to just chill when I camp.
We really enjoy where we live in OK - being surrounded by 6 different states gives us many places we can travel to without having to go real far. Being centrally located in the US makes for better driving distances for most of the places we travel to.
Happy Trails and God Bless!!!
