Born and raised and finally getting out of the Midwest!
The parks are not cheaper they are the same as everywhere else and unless you like going to the closer east coast states, you have to remember how looooong Illinois is to get out of when heading south.
And for me? x on the snow, x on the tornadoes. Once it's winter you don't take the MH out to go traveling......you have to leave BEFORE it starts to snow. Average time you get to use your MH every weekend is only about 4 months out of the year in the Midwest.
I'm getting out of here where I can use it 24/7's 365 days a year!
BIG thing everyone forgets is the camp grounds OPEN May 30th and CLOSE in September in the Midwest.....water pipes do freeze don't you know!
This was MY big oops when I foolishly as a newbie decided to dodge snow storms and head to Florida. Got on the road and started calling ahead for CG's, guess what they were not open.:
I'd think a little bit further south, Kentucky, Southern Illinois, GA those states would give you latitude for traveling and the weather to do it in and places that are worth seeing!

I love the midwest, wouldn't live any place else. And DH and I think the drive across Kansas is beautiful with it's huge wheat fields and acres of sunflowers and huge cattle ranches. Missouri has wonderful lakes, the arch in St. Louis, wineries, birthplace of Harry Truman, Branson. Oklahoma, rich in history, largest number of Indian tribes in US, also many lakes, route 66 runs through it. And Arkansas to us is one of the best kept secrets. What a beautiful state that is with beautiful hills and trees. And to us the best part is you can see so much of small town America in the midwest. I would love to follow route 66 and try out the diners in every town.
Having lived in the midwest all of my life I have only seen one tornado and that was in Florida.

Yes, and any other day.

As long as there's Wal*Marts to overnight at wherever......I'm good to go.
I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Well . . not to participate in a geographical slam-fest . . . . but given my choice I persoanlly think the West Coast would be the best place to own an RV. It seems like California alone has enough new and exciting places to keep an RV'er busy for many years. Throw in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, & Nevada and you'd need two lifetimes.
However, being a deer hunting enthusiast . . . I wouldn't mind taking my RV and some other equipment to the mid-west, especially Kansas along about early November . . .

I was born and raised in the St.louis area and always thought there was a better place to live so when I got old enough I left. I have lived in California,Colorado,Arizona,Connecticut and Florida and now I am in the St.louis area. Every where I have lived has Good things and bad things. What I liked about this area besides its a great place to make a living is when you have a 2 week vacation you are not limited to what direction you can go. Its easy to reach a lot of nice places in every direction. The summer is short but hot and people tend to do more (festivals, party's in the park and outdoor thing like that) because they know winter is coming. I am now retired so I enjoy Florida in the winter months and the other seasons around the rest of this great country of ours.

Well there's plenty to do In the Great Mid-west even with the flooding and the threat of tornado's......been around for 40 years and haven't seen one yet.....but there is plenty of great places to see in this GREAT Nation where ever that maybe......Maybe you ought to come and see what we have.
