Yesterday while staying at a campground a guy asked me if I would move his 5th wheel out of storage and onto a site. I said "no" that my insurance would not cover such a move.
Question: what would you have done ?
As it turned out I'm glad I did what I did. In a short time he had found someone to move the rig into not one, not two but into maybe 4-5 different sites when he finally found one to his liking.
When he first asked I had visions of being liable for his 5er as soon as I hitched up to it.

I think you did right. And I think he is a user with an unbelievable amount of chutzpah!! To expect someone to move his rig into several spots while he chose which one he wanted?!!!

You did right. If he did not have a tow vehicle he should have ask the Campground to move his unit.

In my opinion no one should be allowed into a park without a tow vehicle. Rver's should always have the ability to move their units in case of fire, floods, etc.

I would not have moved it either unless it was some sort of emergency; closing in fire or flooding etc...
We keep our 5er in a seasonal this year and I don't always go there with my truck; I've been using my car simply because it's cheaper. If I wanted to move it (other than an emergency) I would bring my truck.

I would have no problem helping him move his trailer. Of course, if I knew in advance that I would have to "shop around" for an acceptable site, I may have had second thoughts. As for him having the nerve to ask, perhaps he did not think it was any big deal as he may be the kind of person that would step up and help others should the tables be turned. We really don't know the entire situation.
We never know when we may have a similar situation (problem) and would need a helping hand.
That being said, one certainly has the option, as demonstrated, to decline such a request.
No flaming intended here. Just my thoughts.
See you out there,

We were asked to go and bring a 35 ft fifth from storage to the park we were in by a 94 year old man. We did and he said he will be moving to 5 rv parks during the winter. Membership parks that he belonged to that allow 2 weeks in and 2 weeks out. We wern't around for the 2nd move. chevman

I would have moved the 5er, and have done so before. I had the misfortune, (Senior moment) of pumping gas into my Diesel and had to ask someone to move my 5th wheel off the pump island. And yes I have been around Diesel engines all my life and know that Diesel will not run on Gas. You never know when you will need help. GBY...
