It's pretty sad now-days that we have to worry so much about "civil liability" when just trying to be a good neighbor/camper and help someone. I'm only 46 but I still remember the days (60's & 70's) when people could help someone without the worry of being sued and with no expectation of something in return. Although I'd be in favor of helping this guy, I'd still have some serious reservations. You just don't know what motives there are behind anything anymore.
I'm in no way saying we shouldnt help eachother out. If I saw a camper having problems leveling, putting their awning out, backing, etc., I'd be the first one to offer help. It's just sad that we can't tell anymore when someone actually needs help or is just setting us up for a scam.....

As for him having the nerve to ask, perhaps he did not think it was any big deal as he may be the kind of person that would step up and help others should the tables be turned. We really don't know the entire situation.
We never know when we may have a similar situation (problem) and would need a helping hand.
That being said, one certainly has the option, as demonstrated, to decline such a request.
No flaming intended here. Just my thoughts.
See you out there,

Hmmm... alot to think about there.
I may have helped move it once, but I definitely would not have moved it for him 4 or 5 times.

I think I would have helped.
I don't think I would have moved it several times though.
I guess I'm not clear on the insurance thing... if I have an accident his insurance covers his FW and my insurance covers my truck? I guess I'd tell him verbally that any damage to his rig is his liability, not mine?

Once a guy asked if I would pull his trailer a short distants to check his brakes on his 5th wheel, I said no but he could use the my truck and he could do it.
Folks need help once in awhile, people have helped me.
Just my opinion.

Plenty of RVers do not maintain things on their RVs, like tires and wheel bearings, etc. The same thing is true about maintaining hitches and tow vehicles. By not knowing the person who is asking for a tow, you can't be sure what you'd be getting yourself into if you offered to tow their RV.
Without even taking the insurance liability issue into consideration, what are you (and the other guy) going to say and do if the trailer has a tire blowout while you are towing it that causes serious damage to the trailer and/or your tow vehicle?
I worry enough about towing my own trailer without offering to tow someone else's rig. I'd consider helping out in an emergency, but their are plenty of professional movers to handle the situation you described.

This probably needs a "fer instance":
Fer instance, if you jack-knifed the trailer and tore up the front cap on his trailer and dented the back of your cab trying to avoid backing the backend of his trailer into the trailer in the next space.
Your comprehensive on your truck would cover the repairs to the cab of your truck.
His comprehensive on his trailer would cover the repairs to the front cap of his trailer and the damage to the backend of his trailer.
YOUR liability insurance would be responsible for the repairs to the other trailer that you backed into because your liability insurance on your tow vehicle (truck) extends to the vehicle being towed (trailer).
DISCLAIMER: Read your policy. The above scenario is typical, but your policy may have specific exclusions that would not cover any or all of the examples in this situation.
