Been reading for hours.

I went by Discount Tire yesterday to get a quote on moving to a 16" wheel and tire. Their quote, 1100.00 basic wheel, a better wheel, 1300.00 for 5 tires and wheels.

So my questions to all you that have moved to 16" wheels and tires, did you all pay this or do you find this as crazy as I do price wise?

I checked this company and they are much better in price but not sure what brand o tires these are.

I went through Southwest Wheel when I went to a 15" wheel and tire from a 14". I got SIX wheels and tires mounted and shipped for under $800. My only complaint was the fact that their Goodyear Marathons were made in China. Discount Tire has some crazy prices. I also checked them first.....

$100/aluminum wheel capable of loads to 3200lbs each. Included chrome hub cap, metal valve stem , chrome lug nuts etc. Shipping was extra ($114 for 5) because I'm in Canada. I went with the 5 spoke design.I liked the "series 6"
better, but the 5 spoke match the Dodge 5 spoke.

I chose to get my tires here in Canada at Costco b/c shipping added up and there was no savings in the end. Plus I will now have the Costco warranty wherever I am in NA. However, Scott had excellent prices on LT tires that we ALL like, starting @ $100, or so. $119 for BFG Commercial 235/85/16E, which I chose to get here in Cda.

I think you could get a great aluminum wheel with mounted tire for $200-219 each.

$1100 for 5?? Ask Scott if shipping is free in USA. He is worth talking to. I thought I knew everything about tires by the time I was going to make my decision, but I learned a few things from him.

After three tire blow outs over a two year period on long trips, I broke down and upgraded to 16" wheels and tires ($1,400).

bought a set of 16" trailer wheels here etrailerpart.com for less than 50 bucks each and BFG Commercials LT215/85-16" E from Sams Club for less than 100 bucks each. That was in '03 and I'm sure tires and wheels are higher now.
Walmart can also order tires for you

I went to 16" Michelin Ribs (5) from Discount Tire and provided my own rims. Seems it was less than $1000. Still great after 12K miles. I can't rave enough about the tires. Talk to Tim at the Ben White (Austin) store. You want 3000# (or more) and 80 PSI rims.
PM me and I'll give you info so he can access my records.
