Here at home, in addition to the fireworks, the mid-night shotguns go off (just as you are drifting into a peaceful sleep). But, like New Year's Eve - it's a recognized celebration and authorities are lax.
Fireworks are illegal here too, but, folks still buy them elsewhere and set them off.
As to campgrounds, while they may have quiet hours, and would normally enforce them, I think they let the rules slide until around 1am.

I honestly don't care if people have fun with explosives to celebrate, but after midnight..when some are sleeping...
Never heard of shotguns instead of fireworks. LOL
I only thought the Middle East used shotgun fire to show their passions of celebration or war.
Camping with kids makes life interesting.

I had a hard time explaining to my grand kids why they had to stop shooting off their fire works at 10:30, when several neighbors were still shooting them off.
They finally got the message and set out in the yard and watched the neighbors fireworks.
They still had a bunch left, but they can shoot them at home tonight, as they live in the country. Fire works are over at Nana's house!

Unfortunatly folks who shoot guns in the air are somewhat unfamiliar with Newtons Law of Gravitation. "What goes up must come down." Simple law of basic Newtonian physics. That projectile will come down with the anout the same velocity and hit with the same force as when it left the barrel.

I don't think that I have ever heard of them being legal in any of the CG's I've ever stayed at.

With so many free fireworks demonstrations, I don't see the need to put others at risk. I don't mind anyone celebrating even with fireworks, but keep it away from others and their property.

We were just at a county park over the 4th. They posted notes all over the park that fireworks would be allowed down at the boat landing to be fired off during the hours of 9pm till midnight... and not up in the campgrounds, citing damage to tents and awnings, upset dogs and small children being scared as potential hazards.
So folks hauled lawn chairs and coolers down to the boat landing, got to know their camping neighbors, and got to enjoy each other's fireworks, and a good time was had by all.
