With everything going on in todays times, I officially have exceeded more dollar amounts of monthly bills coming in than I have in paycheck coming in. Got a notice a couple of weeks ago the city is raising taxes and utilities.
Last week my car insurance rates (no wrecks, tickets or claims) went up $31 dollars per month. Just went to the mailbox and the electric bill was there. Went from .17 kwh to .25 kwh. Last months bill was $230, this month $485.
I have a 7 yr old pickup (only vehicle) and live in a 30 year old home. I still have to feed myself and my son, everthing in my budget has already been trimmed to the bone prior to all this. School supplies and clothes are fast approaching and school lunches just went up.
I already work two jobs, So now whats a guy supposed to do?
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.
I'm right there with ya, buddy. Working my tail off, trying to pay down some debts, while still feeding the young 'uns. I want to go full time so bad, but unless I pay a few things off I'll still be strapped. Can I go 2 more years?
Things are tough for many out there right now.
We hope to go full time and get rid of the home. We can live cheaper but we won't be traveling all the time with the price of fuel.

There's lots you can do...
Find out if your son can be covered by insurance provided through the schools--it's much less expensive than what we can get (even at the college level); see if your Homeowner's, flood, earthquake, all vehicles {BTW, Happy Birthday, you said your rates just went up.}(maybe except the RV, and maybe even with it), umbrella liability, personal articles, jewelry (if you have any that's fairly valuable, consider a safety deposit box--that'll lower the premium) and high ticket items (Plasma TVs, high ticket electronics), and life insurances are all with one company, and ask what they do for a multi-line discount, then shop around--let them know you're shopping around and they may increase the discount to keep you, also try increasing your deductible(s) (that'll also decrease your premiums--if you've got a good driving record and history, that's the easiest way to save money, but try the 'shopping around' bit).
Make sure the insurance co. has ALL the info on your truck--especially for safety devices (ABS, Manual v. Automatic Trans., Air-bags, driver/passenger; shoulder belts, daytime running lights, etc.), and anti-theft devices (alarm, fuel pump lockout, locking gas cap {just a darned good idea nowadays}, wheel locks), etched ID #'s, etc., those can all help to lower the premium too.
Do the same with your health insurance, unless your employer provides and you can't switch.

I think the "lots you can do" ranks with the notion of "suffer a bit, do without etc" you will be a better person etc. WE should not have come to such as this..sound like "change we can believe in" or Magic maybe.

Well, sounds like a lot of what I'm reading in current events around the country. When you're maxxed-out, you're maxxed-out...... A lot of people are being forced into downsizing their current lifestyles to get by. Many have already had to sell their cars or SUVs/trucks, RVs and homes to salvage what they need to pay their bills while downsizing. Good luck.
I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.
Stay positive. Do what you have to do to bring in more income. Be proactive. Just thinking about saving money is like losing the struggle. Yes we're are all making readjustments to save but don't put all your efforts in that direction. Easier said than done.
From what I have heard while I was in Yuma this past winter, They need guys in North Canada to work in the oil fields. From what I was told down there they pay very good for a guy who really would like to work.
