We are traveling from NM to NC along I-40 (66?) and would love some recommendations of campgrounds along the way. Specifically, wooded locations with full hookups (wifi=even better). We are able to go off route if there are particularly wonderful sites and places to see.

This will be in the last half of July.

Thanks!!
Scott

If you are near memphis for a night's stop over, look at Tom sawyers RV Park in west memphis, AR. Right on the river.

I don't think there is a tree till you get to Ft. Smith.
Ft. Amarillo is on 66, west of Amarillo.
Loretta Lynns Ranch is west of Nashville, about 8 miles off 40 and it's forested in the Oak Hill?? area sites. Hurricane Mills is a unique place.

I made the trip from Albuquerque to Columbus GA last September. Tokk I-40 from Abby QQ to Memphis then southeast. I stayed in the KOA Oklahoma City East, lots of trees, less than a mile off I-40. They have wi-fi available.

Oklahoma City East KOA

Next night stayed in the Tom Sawyer park. Another good place. Didn't have trees in the part I styed in, but I was 20; of so off the Mississippi river and enjoyed watching the barges go by.

We just traveled I-40 from MO to CA, only wooded park we stayed in was a KOA in Checotah, OK. It was about halfway between Okla City and the OK/AR border. It was close to I-40 and bordered a lake, but it was rather pricey....$38 as I recall. Good luck finding wooded sites in NM and TX on I-40!
