what type of vacuum seems to do the best with dog hair (everywhere) and all the little stuff they bring in, not to mention just us with athletic shoes?

We bought one like this vacuum to leave in the 5er and are pleased with it so far. We also remove our shoes as soon as we come in the door and even have the grandkids trained to do so also. We have a lab/hound mix and it seems to get up her hair pretty good.

I use a Eureka Boss Super Lite and it's good. It was recommended here many years ago and I found it to live up to its expectations. Great on dog hair and people residue. We are not shoe removers to begin with. I bring it in the house in the off season and it is wonderful for quick pickups. The handle telescopes so it's not too obtrusive and stores easily. It does not have tools if that's a want.

I suspect about a 1-2 gallon shop vac would work well.. They tend to have a bit more power.. I have one not unlike the one linked to above in the rig, plus a few others. The problem is you need to balance power with size.

Dyson, is of course the best.. but alas, that's a bit big for a MH Or Rainbow (Likewise)

Actually.. ROOMBA might be best but those robo-sweepers have a bit of a problem with pet hair. But they sure are nice

I would suggest a bagless with a rotating brush. There are many small models on the market and we bought a Dirt Devil but the Bissell looks about the same.

I have the small dirt devil hand held vac and it works great. We also remove our shoes which help a lot and use rugs we can shake out. Our bassett hound always sheds and the DD picks her hair right up and stores in any cabinet we want.

Vinyl flooring may be a better option. Just sweep, and mop it clean.

Why would you store dog hair in ANY cabinet?
