Freeware: IrfanView. No "extras" spyware and the like. I have used it for years for viewing and batch editing.

This looks like a winner to me. Easy to use. Thanks for the link.

I don't change the camera (don't know that I can), but my PC lets me save and email different size pictures with the functionality included in Windows XP. Get your list of pictures using Windows Explorer, highlight the ones you want to send, right click, choose "send to" and "mail recipient". In the "send pictures via email" box choose make my pictures smaller, click "show more options" and choose the size you want and click "OK". The smaller pictures will be attached to an email in Outlook Express.

Or, you can permanently resize pictures using the same method and choosing the "Resize Pictures" option.

Easy! Take picture
Put it on computer
Right click the picture you want to email
Left click "Send to"
Left click "Mail Recipient"
Left click "OK"
It will be perfect size for emailing.. 3mb down to about 16kb

If you want to size the images in your camera (not a good idea if you plan to make large prints of any of them) in the image quality menu choose VGA for a 640 x 480 size image. If you want to make the file as small as possible, also set the compression at "normal". Again, this will give you small files for email, but limit the quality of prints.

Along with the programs already mentioned, I use a neat little program called Shrink Pic.
It runs in the background all the time and any time you e-mail or upload a picture it will automatically shrink it to whatever size you choose. It also uses very little of the computer resources. It resides in the computer taskbar tray in the lower right of the screen and if you want to turn it off just right click and select "exit".

Yup but even the smallest you can shoot them at is still too large for a friend who wants me to document my whole trip out to her.

She lives in the upper elevation outside Tahoe and the poor thing only has access to dial up internet! Boy I'd thought by now there would be towers all over and for her the trees pose a problem with satellite.
I sent her 4 pictures attached to outlook express and her mail service stated it would take 80 minutes to download them! So I am looking at having to reduce all of my pictures I send to her from here all the way to the west coast.

This one looks real easy. Anyone ever tried it with Vista?

Rather than email them why don't you just upload them to a free site like Photobucket or Kodak? Make an album and send your friends the link.
