The initial 'installation' of the fitted sheet, I do from outside (reaching in before securing the tenting of the bunk end) and fine tune it (tighten the fitted sheet) by getting on the bunk. The flat sheet is put over it (not perfect), and the lightweight - thin comforter on top of that, then the pillows are kinda tossed to the head of the bunk end.
If there's more than one g'child with us, they like their sleeping bags on top of the made bed (whatever works), and they are pretty good about neatening their sleeping area.

I use queen size bedding on my 60" X 78" bunk and King size on my 67" x 78" bunk.
I use fitted pillow top mattress pads, fitted bottom sheet, flat top sheet, fleece blanket, and thin bed spread.
I just pull up the corners and far mattress side to tuck bedding in.

Have a good one.

We used to put sheets on the bed. Used a set of fitted sheets. After a while, we got tired of having to make the bed and carry enough blankets for everyone. Always seemed like we were taking a lot of storage space with blankets/sheets. So, we bought light sleeping bags for the summer and heavier sleeping bags for the winter. Now we just through the appropriate sleeping bag on the mattress.

We have fitted mattress pads under fitted sheets on top of which we use sleeping bags, separate ones for each of the kids and zipped together ones for DW and I. And we leave all of it (except pillows) on the beds when popping down and traveling. We also hang Divider Curtains down the middle of the kids bunkend to create two separate "bedrooms" for them . . . works great!
BUT...
MikeUps bed sure looks nicer than mine usually does!

Nice mods AZJIM1. I love the divider curtain. I will keep that in mind for when my son takes a friend. That way I wounldn't have to make the table into a bed. Thanks.

It's easier to keep the sheets on with fitted sheets, but I'm not really in the sheets/no sheets debate. And the blanket vs. sleeping bag is a personal choice as well. But, for comfort, my motto is: mattress pads - don't leave home without them. I like the egg crate type. The only problem is you have to put them on and take them off every time you set up. I consider this time well spent. We moved out of the tent and into the pup for comfort, so comfort we shall have.

We use a fitted sheet to cover and keep the mattress clean and use sleeping bags to sleep in. The kids like to play on the bunks and using the sheet keeps the mattresses clean.

We have a fitted sheet over each end (and the mattress is wrapped in those plastic covers-the kind you would put on children's beds 'just in case') and we use the sheet holders (got at Zellers) to keep them in place. Over top we use sleeping bags (just put the two together so it becomes a double) and we keep extra blankets over top. Even summer in Ontario can be cold at night! Along the back and the sides of both bunk ends we shove rolled up blankets to keep the drafts down.

kfc wrote: What is the easiest way to make up bunk end beds in the PUP? And what type of bedspread or comforter do you use? We will be going on our first trip the 1st weekend in August and I'm trying to get everything ready. Thanks for your help.
We alwys put the fitted sheet on before attaching the tents around the bed. Then we used the sheet and a blanket, You are in South Carolina so you aint going to want much cover in August.
