Not sure if RV dual panes are gas filled, but good home units that are gas filled will last longer than a few years. A company like Andersen Windows have a 20 year warranty, some cheaper window company have a far shorter warranty some as low as 5 years.

We've had dual pane on all our RV's and only had one problem that was covered under the 2 year glass warranty that the RV window company had. We like the option, not only does it help for heat and cold, but helps reduce noise.

I ordered thermal paine windows on my Jayco TT they are worth every bit of the $1200.00 it cost. I have no water condensation inside on them its quieter inside and it insulates from the outside. The window frames are built better than the single paine to handle the extra weight. Though I would not retrofit a unit that does not have them the cost would be through the roof. You would be better off trading unit in for one that has option. JMO

Ive had them on my last two units. Would not be without them. Never had a window failure.

Measure all your windows, call Kinro windows (go on their website and you can get their number.

"Are the dual pane windows in an RV gas filled like those on a site built home or are they just two panes of glass sandwiched together with a dead air space in the middle?"

this is exactly what they are.

Have had both varieties.

Once I had 'em - would never order an RV without 'em.

However - IMO, retrofit is too costly.

Lots rea$onable and viable solutions posted here.

Little or no down time to accomplish same.
