Im looking for a small, portable generator for a reasonible price. anyone know of a good one? i want somewhere between 1000 and 2000 watts, 1000 is fine. i would like a yamaha or honda but there just to expensive. idont need people telling me to get the honda/yamaha cuse there quiet, i know there nice, but people with built generators in their rv are very loud, like the A's and C's. ill take cheep and quiet, who wouldnt. if you have any questions just ask.

For cheap, one of the Chinese clones of the Honda should do what you want. If you want something better, but a bit bigger, the Generacs are great portable units with excellent reliability. I have the 4000XL and it always starts right up and runs smooth with never a problem. You can get alot more watts with a contractor or homeowner grade generator than with the ultra expensive inverter Hondas and Yami's. I don't need quiet, as I always camped around motorcycles and buggies anyways, so it worked great for me, and has enough power to run a small mig welder or compressor or even the plasma cutter in a pinch.

I don't think that you will find very many cheap clones under 1500 watts. Living in Alaska you likely are not looking for A/C, but do remember, to power up a 1/2 HP motor you will likely need 2000 watts just to get it going. I have used my Honda 2000 to power my 110v suction well pump as well as all my household uses, but never all together. Kept us going for three days without power.

NorthernTool.com has a small 1000 that it says is quieter and only 2/3 the price of a Honda.

Check Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, Pep Boys or any other discount place for the cheap China models. Brand names of them I never paid attention to.

Good Morning

my 2 cents worth.

As usual We do a camping thing downtown in Juneau Alaska for the 4th of July festivities fire works and parade. A large group of friends all camp together in our toy haulers and RVs and campers. We use Generator power for microwave stereos fridge and festive lights. and as usual my friends show up with their noisy generators.
Generac 6000
northern tool inverter 1000 watt
costco 2500 green Chinese knock off
and various other noisy generators.
over the last 2 years because of the noise I always end up using my honda e2000 to power up 3 rigs(no AC). for comparison the northern tool 1000 is very noticeably louder than the honda 2000 and the other 2 generators Generac and the costco Green clone are exteremly noisy compared to the honda. this year we had 2 more rigs show up in our circle of friends. I went home to get my honda 3000EUI and powered all 5 rigs for 2 days and 1 night every one who was there could not believe how Quiet the honda are.
when I used to camp in the truck camper the honda 2000 e is hardly noticeable and of course someone always showes up next to us or close by with a noisy generator and of course I end up running an extension cord to them for a little piece and quiet
I also have had the opportunity to observe the Yamaha's electronic series and they are extremely quiet as well.

So, YOU asked I am replying to your question.
you get what you pay for. I have not found a Portable Generator other than Yamaha that compares to the honda product.
as most of my friends say I wish I would have bought the honda and not wasted my money on cheap crap.

I have also used both my Honda Generators for extended Power failures here in Juneau.

Living in Alaska I would not trust any other product than a honda.

I have never had any experience with KIPOR so I cannot comment.

I do not represent Honda nor do I Sell Honda Products I just know Quality.

I hope this helps have a great day.

I agree with thebigtiny, Those other generators may be cheaper but you just cannot beat the quiet Honda EU series generators. I've had people walk by my TC and remark how quiet my Honda EU2000 is. I've also had to camp next to a MH with a big Onan roaring away. NOT pleasant.

Hope this helps.

Unless I missed a discount seller the last time I saw a Kipor 2K it was only $200 less then the Honda. Putting up with their increased noise and VERY spotty dealer/repair network might have made sense when they were going for half (or even less) then the Honda but with the price that close I would say stick with the Honda.
