Could someone please post a picture of a correctly installed ROO bunk seal? I am interested in what the bottom corner should look like when correctly installed at the factory. I would like to see what the horizontal piano hinge seal and the vertical door seal look like when done correctly.

I have seen the really great pictures of the modifications that have been made to correct the bunk leak problems. I would like to see what the seals look like when they are correctly installed according to Forest River's normal design.

PS.... this is one of the best special interest forums I have seen. You are all very helpful, informative and extremely willing to share your lessons learned. Thanks for all of the help with our new ROO.

Thanks Jerry. We have been camping in PUPs for about 25 years. We just bought a ROO 23SS... and really love it. I have been trying to go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure that I don't end up with water damage as a result of construction errors. We dealt with water damage in both our PUPs because I did not pay close enough attention to potential leak points.

I am having a shed built to store the ROO in to protect it from the weather while in the back yard.

Well,... Avoid travelling in the rain, and check your marker lights, My wife and I were out yesterday washing the 183 down , and the front markers are loose and are surely leaking. Bed foldouts appear to be seated well into the black seals but the void at the end of the piano hinge is always a leak concern.

Ridgerunner thanks i know the complaint with the leaks were mostly from the front bunk when towing, Chuck s had loads pic pertaining to that problem, and the marker lights, sugar is right ? did you chaulk at the ends of the piano hindge?.I know that when you go throught the PDI you get overwhelmed by all that you have to check. Im sure as much as you want to do there you might forget something, i know ill do more indebt checking like you when im home with it.Im a stickler for makeing any small opening is closed off, screenibf around the heater or vents is a must.GOOD LUCK roadrunner and let me know how it goes with yours, By the way what color interior dod you get Im interested cause i got one of the newer colors i think its called green to me it looks like gold and tints of green and reds ???? i like to know the color of the counters

will get you some pics of our 2009 roo23ss soon, but I can tell you the gasket seal goes all the way down now where as on the 2006 21SS that one of our friends has, it did not go all the way down and Forest River sent them an extra piece to add to it.

Jerry, ours interior color is what I would call a light brown.

The bunk seals on our ROO do not reach the bottom of the opening. Our current seals look like the problem pictures posted by Leaf-Peeper. I contacted Forest Rivers and they are sending new seals to the dealer for the fix. We have not taken the ROO out for a camping trip yet (and I do not plan to take it until the seals are repaired). My request for a picture of a correct seal install is so that I will be able to recognize that the dealer has made the repair properly and that both the vertical and piano hinge seals are correctly installed. I understand that the vertical seals should go all of the way to the bottom. I would like to see how the piano hinge cover should look also.

Also I am not clear about the fix that has been discussed where caulk is pumped into the piano hinge area while the bunk end is closed.

BUD I beleive that chuck s has a pic in his webshots of the seal issue , Maybe some others have that pic of theirs as well , The pic showed that the seal was short, he got a replacement seal from FR as well and installed it. The seal ( new ) went all way down. If you can get chuck s webshots click on his site and take look . Usually hes in here or the Pux . Maybe one the other roo owners has a pic as well .http://www.hybridexplorer.com/forum/default.asp

There's a couple of pics of our seal reaching the bottom hinge area on our 2009 on our webshots - they aren't great pics so will retake better and more a little later - in the middle of a million things right now - but I think it's on page 5 of the webshots where you can see . It definitely goes top to bottom on our 09 anyway.

Ridge runner, this is the better half , DH is out working and told me to come tell you that the piano hinge cover is a flap gasket cover, the vertical gasket is solid top to bottom (on our 09 anyway) and that he will get you closeup pictures a.s.a.p. and to ask you What year is yours? And to the one with the leaks around the lights, we did hit everything hard with hose water before we left our little mini camp today and we detected no leak so far, but appreciate you mentioning this possibility to keep eyes on. Our bunkends we hit pretty good too and nothing on the mattresses or canvas inside when we got home. We opened to check all that. So far so good. I am sure we need to remember to treat the seals periodically. ~ thanks, D.L.
