Some folks are creative, some are happy to use items on hand to reach their goals, and some folks are just foolish. You decide which this guy is.

He took a 54 foot semi trailer, and turned it in to a "hunting camp" or "mobile home" or "camper"

SEE IT HERE

Just imagine the possibilities for TV's.....

That thing is a giant fire hazard with that foam insulation exposed and right up against those light fixtures. You would need to do some serious finish work to make this anywhere's close to a TT.

There is a company out there (It's called Spacecraft) that converts dry van trailers into RVs. www.spacecraftmfg.com is the site. License a road tractor as an RV toter and you don't even need a CDL to drive it. They convert mostly 48' and 53' trailers. If you really like something that big and think 5-6 mpg is okay then go for it.

don't think many campgrounds would let you in with that, would be hard to find a place to park it but it would make a good permanent camp someplace.a lower rideing moveing van trailer would make a better camper maybe even get a second story loft in one.

SpaceCraft doesn't convert trailers, they build them from scratch. They have two basic designs, rear wheel tractor trailer configurations with 19.5 wheels and very heavy front legs, and a more traditional 5th wheel RV trailers.

My next SpaceCraft will probably be based on the tractor trailer platform as I want to carry more stuff and my 27,000 lb 5th wheel is just a bit shy on cargo capacity.

I ran into one of these at Rocky Point, Mexico a few years back. It was taken a few steps further tho. He had made rooms in it and had a large area with bunk beds for the kiddies. He also had room in the rear for a regular size Jeep. A real nice unit. He was pulling it with a MD size tractor truck with a sleeper cab. A real classy setup.

We have a distributor here in the SF bay area that also did that. He did a much better job though with panelling, windows, total RV setup. He also retained the ability to load his 4WD blazer in back with a ramp and winch. One large TH!!
