Hi Everyone!

We're heading to East Harbor State Park the first week in August and will be there for a week. We are planning to go to Cedar Point that week but was wondering which day of the week is best for lesser crowds? And also what is the best times of the day to ride the bigger coasters with lesser lines??? You noticed I said lesser because I know it's going to be crowded anyway!! Any helpful hints is greatly appreciated as we've never been to this park before. We're only about 45 minutes away from Kings Island but have never been to Cedar Point. The kids can't wait!!

Also, can anyone suggest interesting things to do and see in the area too?

Thank You!!

God Bless and Happy Camping!!!

Picking a good day at Cedar Point in the middle of summer is a bit of a crap-shoot. I've heard Monday is generally the lightest day. I have friends who swear the best days are on holidays...which always seems hard to believe.

From East Harbor, you might want to consider going to islands like Kelly's or Put N Bay. If you decide on Put N Bay, the Jet Express (ferry) runs out of Port Clinton. Note that Put N Bay is family friendly and beautiful during the day, but at night is a real party area...so I'd advise to heading back around mid to late afternoon.

Enjoy.

We went to Cedar Point two summers ago. Actually, late August is best because the local students go back to school before Labor Day. We found Tuesday and Wednesday to be OK for crowds. Hit Millenium Force first. If you can get the belt buckled (I couldn't) then everything else is gravy. Also, if you've never been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame it's only about a forty minute drive from Sandusky. Well worth the trip!

what type of things do you like to do and what age are your kids. we have gone up there the last 3 years with kids ranging from 7-14 for a week and we never got bored or got everything done we wanted to do. they liked the small water park that you should go by only a few miles from EH. also the light house at marble head about half hour or less away. kellys island if you like biking and hiking (take your bikes if you can) or put in bay if you like the tourist trap style. plenty of biking, hiking, fishing and swimming and you wont even have to leave the park.this is my 13 year old sons favorite park. hope you have fun PM. me if have any questions be glad to help.

We went to Cedar Point a few weeks ago while in the area on vacation. We went on a Monday, got there when it opened, and for most of the day, didn't have to wait in line for any rides longer than 30 minutes.

BuckeyeNut I've sent you a PM and bgeyer thank you for letting me know about your experience going on a Monday! I was thinking that either Monday or a Tuesday would be better. I don't mind at all waiting in line for a good ride for 30 minutes but when someone says that they waited for an hour or longer I say "NO WAY!!"

Thank you, Thank you!! Anyone else?????

Midweek for sure. As far as ride times, usually around the lunch hour lines are a bit shorter, same later in the afternoon around dinner time. The later it gets in the evening, the better, as most people arrive early, and many poop out well before closing time. Pace yourself. Many times we've ridden coasters where there were no lines, just walk up and wait for the next train.

I refuse to wait more than 30 minutes (except for the Dragster). With 17 (I think) coasters and lots of other rides, we just move along and come back later.

Don't miss the Skyhawk (a lot of people do). Looks like a giant swing. It's a short ride, and doesn't look like much from the ground, but it rocks! Short lines, too.

Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday are the best days to go if you'd like to avoid long lines. There is a Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant on the island just outside the park which is soooo much better than the usual concession stands and usually much less busy because it's not as well known. Skip Cedar Point's outdoor waterpark and head over to Kalahari which boasts being America's largest. We haven't been there yet (the wife reminds me regularly), but MANY of our family and friends say it's AWESOME! Have fun! I've never been to a better amusement park(:

If you decide to go to Put IN Bay take the Miller Ferry from Catawba it,s half the price of the Jet Express.
