I purchased a VIP722 dual Dish satellite receiver and now I’m told that the King Dome antennae is not compatible. I only get the #1 sat. when I run the check switch. The unit came with a regular coaxial split (not a splitter). Would a splitter solve this problem?

Looks like you need to find out what model Dome you have. They have several listed on there web site.

The 722 is a very nice HD capable receiver - if you have the right antenna. To the best of my knowledge, none of the dome antennas can pick up all three satellites - 110, 118, and 129 that you need for HD on Dish. The best you are probably going to get is 110 or 118 and SD TV.
You might want to look at the Winegard web site for some dome or external automatic dishes. Otherwise, enjoy your SD TV with your current dome.

McGoo, we have the same setup (Dish 722& Kingdome). Can these things be reprogramed at Camping World? Anyone had it done? It might be cheaper to go get the tripod dish back out....

I recieved this from another website:
I have a VIP722 and although I have only barely tested it I think it works fine. First of all, did you reprogram the Kingdome for Dishnet? If not you need to read the instructions in the Kingdome manual and order a programmer from Kingdome. They will lend one to you but will charge your credit card then reimburse you when it is returned, less shipping. Also, it sounds like you are trying to hook up to both coax inputs thru the combiner you use at home. Your Dish at home is multi LNB which is why the combiner. I believe the correct way is to connect the single coax to the first input and nothing to the second input. When you reach this point I would call Kingdome tech support and have them step you thru the connection process.
However, the single coax idea hasn't worked for me. Tomorrow I hope to talk to a tech that knows how to do it. I think they have to run another coax from the dome?
I don't care about HD, just want to be able to watch one channel while watching another.

All the coax cables come into the coach from the King Dome. Find the one that goes to the rear TV and put into input 2. Very simple. Now I can record two programs and watch a previously recorded show all at the same time. The bedroom TV will not be independant of the front TV, not a problem for us, my wife and I watch the same shows most of the time anyway. The bedroom TV is only used when she is cleaning or ironing.

WIth DISH network there is no dome that is 100%.. The reason is that Domes can see one sat at a time and dish needs either 2 or 3... (HD needs 3)
HOWEVER if you have a SINGLE receiver (not a dual receiver, DVR or multiple receivers) then some domes can respond to the receiver's "Change satellite" request. I do not, specifically, know about yours.
Some can also be retro-fitted to do that (new controller)
Mine can not (motosat T-2 Automotion DP) it does, however allow me to MANUALLY switch birds if I wish and it will provide both odd and even transponders
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business
