I didn't know which forum this belongs in......has anyone been to any of the "new" Thousand Trails meetings that are going on? They called us, but we're not in any area that they are having these meetings and they said there are changes coming up. I'm curious as to the changes they are talking about, and whether they will benefit us or not. Thanks for any information.

These are sales meetings to try to get you to upgrade to a higher-priced membership. They are put on by sales people who sometimes know less about Thousand Trails than you do.

Yeah we've been to 2 of them since the "new owners" took over TTN and Outdoor World. Same crap. Same lies. For you in Texas it might be worth it. But for us on the East Coast..it's a dung pile. We're ex TTN members. We got rid of it after they changed the rules about 4 times in 3 years. We went to Outdoor World. Then they were bought by TTN. Believe me when I say we were and are still very apprehensive about them now owning Outdoor World. TTN in what every version (3 owners so far) we see, are nothing but lying money grubbing scum.
The first meeting we went to. We asked about what they are going to do with eastern CGs. Would they show us some plans. Would they keep them opened longer into the fall etc...TTN stopped the meeting and threw all of us out. The second meeting last fall we mentioned the problems with 3 of the CGs that have water parks having a major urban problem. And would they provide some security etc. for the members? Maybe actually enforce the rules? Their answer to all of us. Watch out what we ask for. They will simply shut that CG down.
That's TTN for you.

I agree with the above. I throw the notices in the garbage about meetings etc. I still love TT tho. Hey my dues are $280 a year which are frozen and unlimited camping at TT. Member for over 24 years
and I refuse to update my membership for any thing !!!

Whilst my experiences to date (192 days of TT camping) have been somewhat diferent, I do understand where you are coming from. The difference between the TT management and their bottom dwelling sales people is immense. I think that the TT plan and the majority of their campgrounds are fine - not resorts, but certainly acceptable places to camp. However they employ timeshare style sales techniques that are abyssmal and best avoided at all costs. It's a shame because it taints the whole TT experience and destroys their reputation.

TT hasn't changed anything recently but they are pushing their $5000 Platinum upgrades and ODW for those that don't have it. I'd personally avoid a TT meeting at all costs and deal directly with a salesperson that is recommended to you and ask what deals people managed to negotiate for upgrades.
If you want to 'new' TT membership and are prepared to do your homework then a resale is the way to go.

Stevelv, I'm not talking about their sales people. I do agree they are scum. I'm' talking about the upper echelon. From the Cg managers to the 3 different VPs I dealt with. Are you aware that TTN has close to 200 different contracts? Yes, 200. That's way they are pushing the new membership so hard. So it will be easier to have everyone ripped off the same. Look the CGs our west are great and they have always taken care of them. Here on the East Coast. They're sh*t. No other way to say it. And as far as buying a resale. Look into their new rules on that now.

Coast 2 Coast in MHO is right up there with what I am reading here. Last year we went to one of their "Deluxe" C/G's. I have never been to a dirtier or more unkept campground. The mini golf had a water garden that was so polluted it stunk! The playground had a swing set with one broken swing hanging and the other just over a huge mud hole. Bath house closed for working and looked like it had been for months. No security. I could go on and on. We left the next day. I called and reported this to C-2-C. Guess what? Same campground listed in their "Spotlight" section this month. I doubt very seriously without major money being spent this c/g has changed. Thank goodness we were only in this so called RV club for the summer on a special deal they were promoting. Would never join! Why pay for trashed c/g's. We went to 3 different places and none were this bad but all had major faults.

I just found this post. I post a similar thread over here: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21615038/gotomsg/21615470.cfm#21615470 . Outdoor World used to be really great before all of this. I am the third member on my master membership. Supposly I can not sell or anything. I guess when it is time for me to leave they can sue me!

Franky you are right. You cannot sell it. But if you do decide to stop using it. You may send them a doctors letter saying you are no longer healthy enough to RV/camp. Or if you have been a member for at least 3 years. You may just send a letter stating that you no longer intend to use it as long as your dues are up to date. You are free and clear.
