I have been reading the forum for about a year and have read many posts regarding the large amounts of RV/camping junk mail received by some (most?) RV owners, but my DH and I purchased a TT in February and have yet to receive one piece of mail regarding camping/RV issues. While I certainly don't want to be drowned in junk mail, I certainly thought that some offers of magazines, RV clubs, etc., would have arrived by now..Should I count my blessings or is there a way to get a "moderate amount" of what is offered out there? Thanks.

I'm afraid that once the faucet has been turned on, there isn't a way of regulating the flow.
It doesn't really bother us - we can always trash stuff we aren't interested in. However, there have been a couple of times we saw stuff we hadn't known was available - stuff we found useful.
It seems that once Good Sam knows where you are, you'll get a lot of it. Maybe the magazines (Motorhome, Trailer Life, etc.) might sell names and addresses too. That's okay with us......
Somewhat unrelated: one time we got a mailing that offered us coupons and "money saving offers" in return for our completed questionaire. We knew what we were doing, but curiosity got the best of us. So the name we put on the questionaire was "Belle". Belle was our senior greyhound. Belle (Rest In Peace), still gets a lot of mail around here.....

I found the increase of RV'ing mail came when I started 'signing up' for the various clubs that I would need for traveling.
Good Sam, KOA,passport american, FMCA, Trailer Life, etc. will get you going for receiving coupons, discounts and good information on RV'ing!
It just comes with the territory. Athough most gets thrown out some of it is well worth reading.
You can go to these websites and receive complimentary magazines and camping catalogs without joining if you want to read them and see if they are of use to you.

sounds like your dealer respected your privacy and didn't supply your name to 1000 Trails and Good Sam.
once you become a CW or GS member then the mail will begin.

So, what brand of TT did you buy? Maybe neither the manufacturer nor the dealer has anything else to sell you.
I fill out the "send me information" cards. I get junk mail from all the RV plants I've visited, many of the dealers I've met at RV shows. I get a birthday card from my local dealer, though I didn't buy my RV from him, just supplies regularly. Then, I also get a birthday card from a distiller, offered a rebate once and I took them up on it.
If you want junk mail, all you need to do is ask for it. If you don't want it, be happy they haven't found you.

The junk mail from Camping World and Good Sams does not hold a candle to the mail my DW gets from the National Educators Assoc.

Thanks to all who answered. It does sound like my dealer did not sell my name off (which I am sure is a good thing), but maybe I will just send for a comp/sample issue of Trailer Life or similar. I do think I will stay away from Good Sam's because I have read about the tons of mail associated with their association. Thanks again.

I worked in the print and advertising industry for years and I gotta tell you the amount of printed material good sam sends out costs them a ton of money$$ to print all of that plus postage ......if they would cut their advertising/junk mail just in half they could lower the rates for CSP and ERS to their customers.
I don't mind offers/discounts and such but with GS it is repetitive same ole offers over and over again.
