I've visited there a few times. I have to agree with Peg Leg.

We have camped at Butler State Park twice and like it there. The first time the Campground host did not seem to be very helpful. We arrived with no reservations and they told us to pick out a spot. He later came by and said it may be reserved so we might need to move! Of course we were all set up at that point. Thankfully that did not happen and we ended up having a good time. We camped there several weeks ago with reservations and had no problem. Some of the sites are not very level and are kind of tricky to get into. We camped at site 54 which was pretty good, 44 was not very level - and my dh had a hard time getting into this spot. We checked out other sites and thought these would be good - 69, 92,93,94 seemed to be our favorite. 64,66,67,109,110,111 also looked pretty good. We live in Lou, KY and my stepson lives in Northern KY so it's a great place for us to meet him and camp for the weekend.

Sites are a little small for me, as are all KY state parks. I went early and DW was going to meet me after work. I picked out one of the larger sites and started to level the camper. About an hour later I gave up and moved to a more level site. Some sites are really close and others hard to get to. Overall the campground seemed to be well kept. They were supplying free firewood from the scraps from a local furniture factory but I don't know if they still do that. We took a day and went to the louisville slugger factory and museum. (about 50 miles)
All sites are paved. As with a lot of Kentucky state parks the water hook up can be some distance away. We stayed there once last summer and then again a few weeks ago. Overall it is a nice campground. You are about 30 minutes to Madison Indiana from the campground.
We stayed on site 87 which is on the end, but the dumpsters are at the end of the road by that site and a lot of people go by to dispose of trash.
The other site we stayed on was 24. On 24 I could not put out the awning due to a tree but it was a private area with the fire pit down a slight slope from the camper.
