It seems I have a driver problem on my laptop. I am using it a a error report pops up. I have gone back to Microsoft for a driver update but that does not seem to help. Any ideas how to find the bad driver ?

Which driver is it? There are quite a few in there. What's it not doing because of the bad driver?

David, That is my question. How do I find the bad driver? I am using the laptop and this error report pops up. It sends a error report to Microsoft. I have done a driver update but it keeps coming back. It does not happen all the time. After the error report the laptop usually shuts down.

It doesn't sound like a driver. A driver is something that allows an item to work with your computer. For instance, each model of printer has a driver to make it compatible with the computer.

You may have a bad sector on the hard drive that isn't being being properly read all the time. Somewhere on your machine, you probably have "chkdsk" available. Getting to it varies with the different manufacturers. It's pretty good at finding bad sectors and moving the information from them. From the desktop, hit F1 to get help. Then do a search for "chkdsk," without the quotes.

You may end up re-installing the operating system. I know it's a pain in the (insert anatomy location here) but that may be what it takes.

When it pops up that error message click on the "details" button to see what it is that's triggering the issue....

And you should be checking your lap tops manufacture web site for new drivers not Microsoft.
